The old one seems to have vanished...

Let’s carry on in here!

I for one am disgusted at the thought of this Euro Super League being formed. $5bn being provided from JP Morgan and $3.5bn in sponsorship, almost $1bn for each club taking part. Good to see Bayern Munich and PSG distancing themselves from it.

Absolute joke if this happens, owners should hang their heads in shame.

Biggest joke though is Arsenal and Spurs being called big six :ROFLMAO:

I think Gary Neville summed it up pretty well for me. Also debatable if all players would want to play in it if it meant no prem football or England call up. Our domestic competition is the only one I am really up for, European is just a bit of extra bragging rights good to watch if your team is in it.
Throw the 6 out bring more up and we will then have a new top six and a more competitive premiership, not all bad ;)

hang on though he played for a club that introduced modern foreign owners who floated the club to make money and put it in massive debt. He made a fortune from playing for these abhorant owners so I take anything he says on the subject with a pinch of salt. Their borrowing allowed them to buy players only City or Chelsea could afford so that isnt a level playing field at all. For me football needs to go bust so we can get back to having football that represents the people who go to the game generation after generation.. Pogba from his beloved club wants £500k per week to stay whilst Frank Worthington's widow is having to virtually beg to get by. Football lost its soul when SKY took over and now a bigger boy comes in with more money they all complain. No time for any of them really

This will effect the younger players trying to break through from the youth from these big clubs, will affect small clubs who are just about getting by now. 91 clubs left in the leagues with Bury already falling casualty. Sky will no doubt move its money to this new league and drop the funds massively from the EPL.

One thing to note, I notice no Scottish clubs were asked to join...

have you any idea how much it would cost for a family of four to go to the premier leagues top teams games it would run into thousands a year. The Yanks bought Liverpool for under £300mil some say its worth £3billion now so how much money do they want as owners and there will be a time when they cash in and then the club is in trouble.

still lots of faux outrage from millionaire footballers. If we want football to return to the ordinary working classes it needs to go bump and let the rats desert the sinking ships. I think Messi earns in excess of £100 million a year , come on what does he care about spectators being fleeced.
Still no word from the group of six.

Let's not get too carried away by nostalgia. Football as perhaps we all knew it back in the 70s (and before) has gone! It is no longer a sport it is big business that pays big money to all those who are lucky enough and/or talented enough to participate.

All SKY have done is to take advantage of the popularity of the game and offer it to the people who then decide that they want to pay (over the odds IMHO) so that they can watch it on TV. So one could say that it's not the fault of SKY it's down to the subscribers without whom SKY would not exist.

As for a 'Super League' I have become totally impassive as a consequence of the above. What will be will be and because there is such big money in the driving seat it will be those with the big wallets that decide the outcome.

PS ... what DID happen to the old thread Ian? 🤔

Anyone that joins the breakaway league should be considered to have resigned from the Premiership. Effective from the date that they signed up.

I understand that they are businesses, not fan clubs, but still they are just taking the mickey in the hunt for money.

I have followed City for a long time but I want to see them play, and beat, United, Rochdale, Macclesfield Town and Portsmouth, and play in a league where points mean something. I have no interest in seeing them play Inter Galatasaray or Real Roma. Or whoever. If I wanted to see exhibition games every week I would watch the Harlem Globetrotters.

When rich men in the case of Liverpool FSG buy a club but have no interest in the City or the club or Football you have to ask why ? what is their motivation. A few of us asked this question and others blindly followed the mantra they saved us from bankruptcy but they didn't. They saw a chance to make money nothing more and their payday has arrived and they dont care if they never set foot in Liverpool ever again. I agree with others who say throw them out of the league now .

Harlem Globetrotters are a prime example on how this league will go from the sublime to the ridiculous with the lack of meaningful competition.
They will have to start getting the likes of Rene Higuita to do back flips in goal and players running the length of the pitch balancing the ball on top of their head just to keep viewers locked in.
I wonder if the many players of the Rashford ilk who give valuable time and money to the under privileged talented youngsters, will want to go down the path of super league, regardless of increased financial reward.
Playing in the Champions League is the icing on the cake reward for a premier league season full of effort and pain. I doubt it gives the same high if you know regardless of achievement you will be back again next season.

Looks like it's starting to happen!

I've just seen Mourinho has been sacked by Spurs too. Liverpool, Spurs aren't even in a champions league spot and Arsenal won't even qualify for Europa League next season but yet are guaranteed European football every year with this rubbish.

There's calls for the Carabao cup final to be voided as both teams in the final are part of the 12 founding clubs. Total joke all of this.

You've got to hand it to José. He's conned yet another Club into a long term contract and only lasted a couple of years so that he can bag another huge pay off. It's quite unbelievable how Clubs can fall for it time after time. He's been doing it now for 20 odd years and despite his failing abilities and lack of man management skills he will no doubt deceive another Club soon enough. He has become a very rich man through his own cunning rather than excelling at his job. 👏

Maybe read into why he actually was sacked?

He refused to take the team onto the training ground following the news of the European Super League, Daniel Levy then sacked him.

He managed to get them to a league cup final, could actually win a trophy too.

That is as may be ... which perhaps says more about Levy than it does about Mourinho. I stand by my comments.

Trouble is that he's now joined the list to succeed Roy at Selhurst Park!! He's always had a soft spot for Crystal Palace FC.

Why would Mourinho go to Palace? Is this an actual list or a bookies list?

Haha ... it's actually a rumour started on one of the Palace Forums already ... and we all know how sarcastic Forum comment can be don't we? :ROFLMAO:

Of course he won't come to Palace ... but he is known for his admiration of the Club and for the 'realness of the Club and fans'. ;)

by the way if anyone is confused about Liverpool stature we are the only super power when its comes to European trophies with 6 CL and 3 UEFA cups .
Liverpool supporters are already at the ground posting banners and have asked for their flags in the ground to be removed. All fans should boycott these clubs the American owners are desperate to get their hands on the TV money which is shared out in the EPL they think it belongs solely to them.
