Good morning, l have very recently purchased a Jaguar MK2 3.8 built in 1965.
I would like to find out the original colours of body and interior.
Is it possible through the chassis number?
If yes, where can I find the informations?
Presently is IMPERIAL MAROON with light interior.
The car no. 223464DN
Thank you
Cesare
Pls excuse my poor English

Send an email to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) with as much information as possible and they should be able to give you what you need.

From my knowledge there is no information in the chassis number or on the VIN plate of any jaguar saloon to indicate the original colour. On the S Type the chassis number just indicates the fact it has power steering or not, the chassis number and the gearbox type in your case the DN stands for the DG250 Auto box.
If as suggested you contact the Jaguar heritage and supply them with your chassis number along with a large portion or beer tokens they will issue you with a Heritage certificate. This certificate will give you a lot of information about the original build specs of your car with the original colour and details of who the first owner of the car was or at least where the car was sold from.
