hi john, as you probably read on other threads I just bought this as recommended by bluchem , only put a can of oxicat into my tank on the 28th jan after picking up the car from dealers in Glasgow. in for a service, emptied the full can of oxicat into half a tank then toped it up to the brim with diesel, but I live and work in Glasgow so I knew it would take a week or 2 before I would see any benefits of the oxicat. millage on mine is 43,000mls so it was more a preventive thing . I love the big xj and want to keep her in good order, as Richard (bluechem) says this will clean your egr valves and fuel system also cleans out the DPF system so I bought a years supply will add a can every 3-4months, and can tell you after a week now I can feel a bit of a difference I think the car is running smoother , bluechem told me that I should also see a hike in mpg reading on the car, I took her for a run on Thursday about 20mile but had the car on cruise control but could see the mpg going up the more I drove at 50mph then at 70mph but the m8 was rather busy so had to brake etc and the figure fell. will try again next week on my day off. but on looking at the back off the can this stuff more or less dose away with getting your car terricleaned and for very little money, I paid the agent in Lanarkshire ÂŁ15 quid a can but have seen it on ebay for just under a tenner with free posting. ;) why not give it a go. regards james

Hi James it was ur posts I was looking at I am going to order a few cans from eBay as you say less than a tenner. At the moment I use millers. But I like the way this oxicat cleans the egr turbo etc and i am of the opinion like yourself that additives do make for a smoother cleaner engine. I also only put in bp ultimate.

john . just try one can first mate see how things go, like you I know that we can buy other similar products likes off wynns millers, but this gear looks much better. the likes off redx I used to use in the past was rubbish thinking back waste off money, but buy a can off ebay mate just one at first , then see the results , you can always get more later, james:p

There is a whole range of retailed additives like all that you mention James. Our products are generally trade only, some can be obtained like anything, on the internet, but there is ÂŁ4 postage and you don't get to meet the trader. I add the product, as a preventative just to keep the exhaust areas clean, but there is often a benefit in doing that and that is an increase in performance because the vehicle breathes better. I'm happiest when it does nothing at all as I just want all to be clean, especially with diesel engines. It is a good genuine product John, that does a good job, but it won't turn a V6 into a V8, if you know what I mean. It will just make sure that post combustion areas are clean. Hopefully that will help stave off any DPF/EGR/Turbo issues and that is the best benefit of using it. To be fair though, my Irish colleagues are running a challenge with a measured amount of fuel, and unofficially, reports are around 40miles more per tankful after the product has been applied by their customers.Test it yourself, and report your results to us here. Regards, Richard.

Would you not get the same results by using a better grade of fuel I general use the more expensive shell fuel and very often on a longish run with cruse control set I see the mpg reaching 50 but I am a steady driver pulling away from lights, stop signs ect with flooring the loud peddle, when I see this kinda mpg it tells me my engine must be in pretty good shape or have I got it compleatly wrong

Better fuel has better cleaning agents, lubricants and should stay at a good burn temperature. There are those that believe better fuel and fuel treatments are not necessary and have no effect. I disagree with that, but I am not someone that tells others what to do with their car. There is not any way that long term tests can be performed as the results are variable. I do have instances of products being used to completely cure a running problem, those are actual facts to me. There is not any downside to putting a treatment in, which is reasonably priced and has a good cleaning effect. So, my tenner is a small price to pay, if there is a very good chance of a real benefit. And, using the best fuel that I can get, because I don't want any running problems that will potentially cost a small fortune. Others prefer to save a few pennies on fuel, maybe that their car will cost ÂŁ50 a year less. It's all about choice.

Minstrel, 50mpg sounds good... Ive never reached that, used to get about 47 on a very good day on the motorway, now more like 41-2, only get 20-30 on my short trip to work (10 miles @ 40-50 mph). Im due a service so hoping the air filter change will lift my mpg.... might try the additive thing

Bluechem - how much with delivery to Glasgow?

The product has been designed for cars like ours. The factory recognised that a lot of bigger engine cars were filling with soot, as they just can't be used properly. The product will safely remove the gum and tar sticking carbon in the whole exhaust. I would like to hear how your car runs on its next tankful James as usually it will give you more economy. Hard to judge I know. Thanks.

Hey James, I doubt that Oxicat is all that good for heartburn, I recommend Nexium instead!

thanks Richard, took the car for a run last week to look at the mpg at 50 then 70 mph but heavy traffic on the m8 constant braking, could not see any mpg figure , but happy knowing the car has been "cleaned out " so to speak thanks james

Yep, keeping post combustion areas clean is the secret. Most of the cars I get called to have been abused, by people "just driving" them, not servicing, not driving them well, generally not taking any care. The most of the contamination builds up somewhere post combustion, EGR Valve, Diesel Turbo, Swirl Flaps on some ( on air intakes but get contaminated by EGR ) and of course the dreaded DPF. Most garages, if they want to be conscientious use a fuel additive, usually an injector treatment, but the best treatment is to clean post combustion, as that will allow the engine to breathe better and get rid of carbon starting to clog up the system. Long term, better running cars is the result.

Question for Bluechem.
I bought a bottle of Oxicat a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. Although I have a petrol not diesel motor I have been advised by a very knowledgeable forum member that the catalytic converters on the XFR motor often start to clog up near the 60,000 mile mark. Mine has done only 40,000 miles, but I think preventative maintenance is better than waiting for the problem to arise. Thing is, I put a bottle of BG44K in with the fuel only a few days ago, and I still have over half of that tankful of fuel in the car. BG44K is highly recommended and used by Jag mechanics to clean out the intake side of the fuel system, whereas the Oxicat cleans out the exhaust side of things.
So my question is, could the Oxicat interfere with the BG44K or vice versa, and I should wait until I next need to fill up before I add the Oxicat, or is it OK to add it now?

hi guys, john yes it will take a week or so. ozjagXFS if it was me mate I would wait toyur tank is empty then bung in the oxicat and fill up. mines only about 44,000 mark no visiable smoke etc but the car runs smoother I can tel you that. like you all I want to do is keep the car in good condition so if be adding a can 3-4 times a year and it cleans it out then s be it, but Richard (bluechem) knows his product and iwas impressed

#25 ·
Sorry, I'm a few days late. I know 44K as a product. It is in the quality treatment bracket for me. But, it is a non combustible product, or a partly non combustible product. That means, that it claims to clean after the burn. I use our petrol injector cleaner with Oxi, as it is a fully combustible product and won't affect the Oxi at all. So, best advice is to use them on separate tank fills. Very good practice to run the Oxi through to keep your cat clean, absolutely agree with you.

I stuck a bottle in my Mondeo 1.8 TDi 2010 46,000 miles last week as it was running like a pig. All stutters and judders.

Within 20 miles I could tell the difference. No more stuttering.

I`m waiting on another can for the Jag arriving just to give it a treat.

@Bluechem Where`s your place about? I`m working in Renfrew these days and may come and see you for more if the price is right :)

#28 ·
Thanks for the feedback Broad. Yes, the diesel turbo area and EGR valve all get problems on the Mondeo, even with low mileage. Clear them of loose carbon and you should not see a big problem in the future, that's the best benefit. Generally I sell to the Trade Only Broad, so I work from Norfolk and spin around in a van, or fly off to Ireland, Scotland etc. I am happy to send out to forum members to help them get the product, but I do it for little profit!! If you want a trade quantity ( boxed 24 ), let me know. I have a couple of Agents near to you.

Guys, it is great feedback from end users I am getting here and I appreciate it. Most of what I get back is from garages ( who are generally very happy with it ). Thank you for all comments. Any questions, I will answer and make sure that I check the thread more often!

Looking on the bay of e I see there are 2 can sizes - 250ml and 375 ml. Which is most suitable for an XF 3.0D?

#30 ·
That is a good question Yorkie. There is actually three sizes. We market Autoprofi, as our cheapest option to the trade, plain bottles tight quantity fills, 250ml. Powermaxx which is what I generally sell 300ml. And Protec,375ml. Actually, Oxi will do its job with any of the sizes, of course a really dirty exhaust can benefit from more. Used as a preventative in a Jaguar, it should not matter.

I was thinking about giving oxicat I try had a look on line there seems to be lots of different coloured tins is it all the same in side the tins or do you need to make sure you buy the right one for your engine?

#33 ·
Ditto.

Or perhaps bluechem could offer advice as where to buy.
