Thing is if you have the touch screen, you need to retain it for other functions, audio, climate etc.Considering there must be a lot of folk out there either without SatNav or with the un-updatable and outdated Jaguar SatNav, I'm surprised no one else has fitted one of these...
Ah, get it...Thing is if you have the touch screen, you need to retain it for other functions, audio, climate etc.
Oh dear, all those knobs to turn!
What knobs? Are you taking the piss?Oh dear, all those knobs to turn!
The 2002 2.5 V6 thankfully did not have the Jaguar SatNav system --not sure if it was even available for that model year. Upon purchasing it 2007 from a Ford dealership, they install a new replacement base system with the four Phillips speakers. Over the years I upgraded it very much to my liking and stayed away from display and/or touch screen aftermarket solutions. I did look at the Parrot solutions but instead chose to go with the iSimple solutions for my then iPhone 3G. The system is now complete and supports both my iPhone SE and 5S without the need for any software/firmware updates.Considering there must be a lot of folk out there either without SatNav or with the un-updatable and outdated Jaguar SatNav, I'm surprised no one else has fitted one of these...
Mine is a 2002 V6 2.5 and unless I am very mistaken the Sat Nav in mine was Factory Fitted.....The 2002 2.5 V6 thankfully did not have the Jaguar SatNav system --not sure if it was even available for that model year.
I didn't notice that till you mentioned it. It matches the ash tray cover so it looks like the heater dials are the upgraded part, as it happens. And that reminds me, I hate the miss-match of colours. It still looks crap after spending weeks trying to find a colour match...
I was refering to the difference between the manual heater controls & climate control.Oh dear, all those knobs to turn!
It only matches because I painted the ash tray cover! :-DI didn't notice that till you mentioned it.
Ah... I was going to covert to auto climate control with sat nav and then modify the sat nav according to Ben Wilcox's thread on here. However, after 'talking' to him I concluded I couldn't justify the expense/hassle involved. Which was a bit of a shame as maintaining the original Jaguar look with a modern sat nav would have been perfect!I was refering to the difference between the manual heater controls & climate control.
Good paint work. Could do the heaters too.It only matches because I painted the ash tray cover! :-D
With regard to the speakers, I can't really make a comparison. I swapped the original rubbish standard speakers with the 'premium' Alpine ones, including the tweeters, so I had to replace the door cards too... An improvement for sure, but then again, I'm not really that bothered as long as it sounds 'alright'. And of course, I'm listening to MP3's or Spotify now, rather than CD's.
As you are obviously keen on getting the best sound possible you might have to invest in some new speakers. The Jaguar/Alpine ones are getting on a bit now after all!
If you were a bit closer I'd pop 'round and let you have a listen...
Yes. I had to change the cards because I wanted the tweeters that fit in the 'door handle'...Can I upgrade door speakers without changing door cards?
