Radiator

Why does my car have so much trouble keeping coolant where it's supposed to be? I've now had a new header tank, valley pipes and now the radiator has given up and is corroded/ leaking. According to David Manners price list, a S/C radiator is £360 or for some reason £940 for some VIN numbers, does anyone know why this may be the case? I'm a 2004 Super V8 but my VIN doesn't look anything like the ones on their website. http://www.jagspares.co.uk/Manners/Pricelists/X350.htm
Expensive one : G47193
Cheaper one: G47194

The last part of my VIN is 4TG19940

Ah the joys of owning the enhanced V8 X350.

Been there, seen it, had it done, got the tee shirt.

The radiator I had fitted to mine is part number C2C36506, mine went not long after the valley pipe as well. I'm convinced the 2 were related and like as not due to the stop start use my Super was used to inside the M25 day in, day out.

I'd thought about changing my own and my Indie wasn't overly joyed I decided against it, they're a pig to do.

FYI my vin is later, beginning with an H, not that I think it matters.

Well that's interesting, according to the parts list yours was a 4.2 version, the one with S/C next to it is a different number. But if the glove fits then that's a happier situation as that part number is listed much cheaper.

Looking at various websites and ebay listings, a number of them do show the same part for use in the 350, s types and XF's, others even indicate that C2C36506 has superseded others.

As an aside, I had the water pump and auxiliary belt changed at the same time.
Pfft the water pump can sit tight for now, all this just as I've cleared my savings account paying off the loan for the car as it. Supposed to be getting the scratch done before it's the wedding car for my sisters wedding at the end of the month too.
Just a thought, my rad went my STR this year, my Jag indie fitted a Hella radiator apposed to a Jag on for 1/2 the price, just a thought as mine was £400 fitted. Maybe you can get a compatible rad for your car
Food for thought, I've left it with my Indy over the weekend. I'll call tomorrow and see what he's tracked down.
Dear God don't be telling me it's almost a grand for my radiator! I'm just tracking down an oil leak on mine so its a dead cert the rad will go next!
I don't know if there's anything particularly special about this radiator, but there are plenty of companies out there that re-core radiators, making them essentially good as new and a lot cheaper than a new Jag one by the sounds of it. Might be worth looking at that option.

I had my radiator changed at Tom Lenthall in August as it was bowing at the bottom. The car is a 2008 N/A X358 and the replacement radiator was £158. He also changed the condenser whilst the radiator was out (as it is easier and if the radiator is going the condenser isn't far behind). The condenser was £198. As several other jobs were done at the same time I can't tell you what the labour was but I can ask him where he sources the radiators as I will be going there on Thursday. Chris
Thanks, but I've got a radiator on order now - it's going to be fitted on Monday.
How did the radiator fix go, if all's well I'm sure there'll be others interested to know.

Especially the item bought and where from.

Picked it up yesterday and all is well now, the radiator was supplied and fitted by Indy - £140 for a 2nd hand one + fitting.
