Rust on Boot (Trunk) Lid

Hi All

Thought I'd post this, I've got bubbling paint on the boot lid just above the chrome finisher, its all along the width of the lid.

How does the warranty stand with this as there is one bubble with a crack in the paint, does that qualify as perforation? It's a 2009MY by the way.

Tried to post a photo but the attachment manager keeps on saying the image is too large!

First time I've seen that issue posted, reckon you should hotfoot it to your dealer to see what they say.

If no luck there then contact Jaguar Customer services as this is obviously a rogue paint issue. 3 year old XFs shouldn't rust.
My 2008 registered MY09 XF lives in a salty soup 4 - 5 months a year. Not even the faintest spec of rust anywhere, so as said above see your dealer immediately and make it quite clear that this is an issue you will follow to the bitter end.
Known issue ......no problem, lots of people on XF forum have had this!
I have bubbling along the chrome boot strip in the chrome itself, going in shortly to be replaced under warranty.
As has been said, this is a known issue. I had mine done last year, no problem with Jaguar warranty. It lasts for 6 years.

Still not very good though is it.
Sounds a lot like the old X-Type problem with the chrome strip piercing the paintwork at the factory when fitted which then after a few years of weather, they rust along the strip.
Update:
Had the work done under warranty. Looks a very good job. Mind you if so many have had to be done, they're obviously getting enough practice!
I've got this appearing on my XF (MY2010) now as well. Philclemo / Reevo - mind if I ask how they resolved it ? Did you have to leave the car for any length of time with them, did they give you a courtesy car ?
Hi
It was booked into to a Jaguar approved bodyshop for them to complete the work. Jag didn't give me a courtesy car (much to my chagrin) but the bodyshop gave me a new A Class Mercedes, so not too bad. I did, however write to the Jag CEO to explain my dismay that as it wasn't my fault the rust had appeared, they should have supplied me with a suitable car whilst mine was being repaired.

He agreed and sent me a £200 voucher for me to use at a main dealer for anything I wished, servicing, accessories etc.

I think I was without my car for about a week I think.

Its a known issue, Tony and I have both had ours done under warranty as there is a six year warranty it should be done without question. We met someone on a carpark the other day and his was also bubbling. The repair is to respray the boot and a clear 3M strip is applied between the chrome strip and the boot.
I've got an idea that this will not be an issue on 2011 cars onward as the lights and chrome finisher have been revised. I think the same was true on the XK and they've revised that as well.
Thanks for the feedback guys, will see what the dealer says. I've only had the car just under 12 weeks so I'm hoping they provide a car for me whilst it's away (assuming they agree to repair it !).
And71. TheyWILL repair it. My friend had his 07 XK repaired last autumn at no charge and got a loan car.
stratstone wanted mine for three days, then couldn't do it for a month so still waiting for this to be fixed, only been waiting 9 months now, perils of being on an island.
Yikes :-( !

Still, you get to drive the car around some really nice scenery....

(benefits of being on a nice island) ;-)
I have had this issue with both my Jaguars, I couldn't believe it the second time. The first time was an 04 X type and the other my 08 XF. I hope they have modified the new cars at the production stage now. Both times the work was done under warranty and on this occasion a courtesy car was offered, but at a cost of £10 a day. I decided not to have the courtesy car in the end. A good job was done both times though and I still love my Jaguars.
I realise this is an old thread but I've just bought a 2009 3.0 Diesel S Premium Luxury which is in absolutely fantastic condition, but I've just found two very very small areas of bubbling paint on the boot lid above the chrome strip.
Now obviously the car is now outside the 6 Year Corrosion warranty. Has anyone had any joy getting Jaguar to repair this free of charge (or at least a contribution) when the car is outside the corrosion warranty period?

And if not can anyone give me an idea on how much it is likely to cost?

Thanks very much in advance. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Mine is a 08 xf pl and mine is bubbling on the bottom of the Crome plinth.
