There are a number of reasons for that message. You'd need to scan the car with a decent code reader to find out why the car has taken issue with you.

A common cause is pushing the diesel to hard when cold, which will throw this message.

I've had this message a couple of times before. Once was when the engine was very cold in the wintertime, and the light went off after a few minutes when the engine warmed. The other time was when a rodent chewed some of the wires in my engine (parked on the street in NYC). I was able to drive it 3 miles to the mechanic while the light was on. It was a costly repair.
I now have an electronic rodent repeller that I put in my engine and also put Irish Spring soap under the hood which my mechanic says repels rodents.

Restricted performance warnings can be triggered by numerous things, some of which you wouldn't necessarily think could cause it, including a slightly discharged battery. You need to read the codes with a good, preferably Jaguar specific code reader to have any realistic chance of finding the issue without wasting a lot of time and money just throwing parts guesses at it.
