usually the adjuster in the top of the lamp has broken off, grab hold of the back of the main beam bulb to see if the reflector is secure or is it wobbling around.
There are cheap fixes,a new light is rather expensive, google it...it can be repaired by a small screw in correct place, some have stripped the light and re fabricated the faulty bit

is it wobbling around
No, no wobbling at all, can adjust it up manually, I was wondering if the actual motor had gone, can these be replaced. Due for MOT and self levelling must now work in order to pass.
ive had my car for 2 years and 2 mot s. each mot l/h lights stops levelling [ honestly] lucky for me up to now i tickle all the wires going to the lamp and tap the motor and hey presto it eventually works,
Thanks standby, where is the motor situated please so I can give it a clout.
you know were you adjust it manually up and down, take that as being the top pivot , the motor is below that in the in the same position being the bottom pivot, from memory its about 1 1/4 diam and 2 inches long a round thing.[ you know if you put your lights on auto and switch to engine run, it forces the lights to scan up an down]
Is it a big job to replace the motor and are they readily available please?
i dont know, i know its bumper off to get at head lights.why dont you start a new thread. [dismantling xenons] ive read that you have to put them in an oven to melt the glue.cambo had his to bits but didnt say how to change over from r/h to l/h driving. some dutchman changed the motors.i noted these at the time when i was in the same position as you are, but fortunately mine have mended themselves??? somebody must hve done it. by the way how do you know its the motor?
I don't but cannot see what else it could be,How can I test it. no good with a voltmeter.
sorry i cant hep. at least you know your head light aint broke. so its electrical. so theres your motor, a module under the bonnet [drivers side somwhere]? two signal senders bolted to the chassis and suspension [offside] front and back to tell the module how your car is sitting so to send a signal to your lamps to adjust and all the associated wiring. so there you go good look. PS have another wiggle and a tap just for luck.
The Axle Deflection Height Leveling System Module is located in the drivers footwell, it's a pain to get out.

1. New ADHLS module from Jaguar is £99.33 inc VAT
2. Headlamp Stepper Motors x 2 (Special Order, non returnable) £69.74 inc VAT
3. Jaguar Xenon Bulbs £128.26 inc VAT

All parts would need to be ordered in, the ADHLS module would require re programming to get it to work.
