I was shocked to see a Jag pulling a caravan yesterday, is that legal?

Has anyone else witnessed this awful act? :-D

Depends on which Jag it was. I tow a van with my 2.2 and its great.

Keep it quiet, but when I bought my S type from a fella in Carrickfergus there was a tow hitch fitted. He unashamedly admitted to pulling his caravan, saying "you would never even know it was there"
Can you visualize an S type with a caravan hanging off the ar$e end? Ugh!
Guess what the first job I did when I got her home?

Many moons ago back in the late 90's when an XJ6 was one of my rides.
A friend of mine rang up who had broken down in Wales , asked if I'd get him home with my A-frame.
Off I went to Llangolen in my Jaaaaag with A-frame in the boot , did a lot of car moving that way in the day.
Turned up to greet him , his missus , dogs , Lada Riva estate + Caravan ........ He never mentioned the van.
Faultless journey back to MK in fairground style , Jag towing the Lada estate with the van on the back !
On one bit of the A5 , I had the boys in blue alongside in a Volvo T5 staring in disbelief.
Thankfully they probably thought the paperwork would be too much and carried on past me :)
hee hee some great stories there guys. Lets hope all this was done in darkness so no one witness the heinous crime........

You could have fitted a bike carrier onto the towbar. lol
Which is another ugly site on the back off a car.

Regards Tom.
At least the bike carrier is useful hee hee
I was pleased to see your post as I did once witness a man who was shocked to see a Jaguar towing a caravan.

It's good to find things in common with others.

It's what I intend to do with mine :)
After 20 years of Land Rover ownership I have to tow it with something, 'er indoors' Nissan Micra ain't gonna manage it. :-D
A lot of the younger drivers don’t or can’t tow as they haven’t got the right licence category, B+E. I have this but the only time I towed was with a Land Rover Defender and a trailer on roads and cross country, not the most pleasurable experience!
I had a tow bar on my last XJR.
Here's a picture with a 4 wheel trailer that I towed from Reading to France with her ladyships new bath.
It certainly pulled well.
Many years ago I did a bit of part time coach driving for National Travel, a regular summer Saturday job was the Halifax to Gt Yarmouth service. Now anybody who is familiar with the route knows that from Newark in summer (single carriageway) you can only go as fast as the many tractors and trailers. Well one Saturday it was particularly bad and when we got to the front of the queue..........wait for it...........a Reliant 3 wheel van (Del Boy), towing a large twin axle caravan. They were happy, they were going to the seaside for their summer holidays, poor old Victor was biting lumps out of the steering wheel with frustration
I think they were 600cc. Single wheel drive. I bet that would be fun in the wet.

That was the original 1930s delivery van with a motorcycle front-end. If it was a Regal it would be a 750cc. If a Robin 750cc or 850cc. They were all conventional rear wheel drive. The engine and transmission was based on the Austin Seven, which Reliant purchased when Austin stopped production.

And yes, that's what I drove when it was too cold and wet to ride the Bonneville (Or when it was off the road - again!)(A Meridan co-operative product).
