Steve's XJ V8 Portfolio Thread.

As promised I am starting my ownership thread. It's Metallic Green LWB with a cream leather and oak interior. On the day of purchase it has covered 41476 miles and cost £14000.

The car drives very smoothly with that V8 purring away and the fit and finish is so much better than the XF.

Earlier today the engine management light came on so I phoned Evans Halshaw and they "don't do Jaguars" so it's booked in with Stratstone at Stockton for tomorrow morning. I will tell them to give it a good going over and fix everything they find wrong that can be charged to Evans Halshaw.

While the rear window is out might be a good time to take the rear parcel shelf out, if you have a need to.
At the moment i have no reason to take it out (unless someone can think of one) but there is a dead insect in high level brake light that can be removed.

Have you called around yet to get any "replace only" quotes without supplying Steve?

Car glass North East in Stockton ( another Steve ) reckon on about £60 - £70 to fit plus v.a.t

That's a good price Jim, I'll give him a ring.

About the same cost in fuel for a Fix-A-Jag day at FC's.

Catching up Steve as I’m more of a silent forum member these days, loads going on…
Anyway sorry to see your window issue and I’m sure you could probably do it yourself, but still think I’d get a professional in to sort it.

I have to agree with the others on this one... Better to get this done by a professional. Hope the replacement happens very soon!

It could be a few weeks, i can only collect on a Monday.

There's a Bank Holiday and Stelvio coming up plus the availability of the glass fitter.

At least it's not in danger of falling out lol.

Made an early start today and checked the brakes ready for Stelvio.

Greased slider pins and general clean up.

ACF 50 sprayed all over and wheels cleaned inside and out.

All good to go.

whilst I had a tyre away for refitting I took the opportunity to clean the wheels properly and all the wheel arch and various suspension components. Checked the pads and then started to wonder about upgrading the pads and discs.
GOing up or down the Stelvio will rewuire some decent brakes

Need to concentrate driving on the other side of the road, don't want any nagging doubts about the car Jim.

Steve, you're 100% bang on!

My time driving on the Right is limited, even then, knowing and drilling it into my head, I got it wrong at least once, albeit will no ill effects

Summer can very tourist laden in Scotland, more so in the North, around Glencoe, Fort William, Inverness and the NC500 etc etc
There are usually signs everywhere in French, German, Italian ....reminding those to drive on the left

conduire à gauche
links fahren
guidare a sinistra

I've been witness to 2 or 3 horrible events, where that memory lapse has kicked in.

That said, you guys will be fine, you both are switched on anyway AND have backup, so unlikely to be an issue.

What is it, 3 or 4 weeks away now?

Whilst in France, if you see someone flashing their headlights at you then make sure you get below the speed limit as up ahead there will be a gendarme with his speed gun.
