Hello fellow x-Type enthusiasts, I am beginning my project of replacing my failed automatic transmission with a manual 5-speed from an identical X-Type 3.0L sport sedan I luckily found at a salvage yard just 2 miles from my home. The prospect of making the switch was above and beyond the negative responces from the local Jaguar dealership who said it cannot be done. I beg to differ. I have the complete wiring harnesses, and the necessary components to make the switch possible. I hope. If anyone is interested in this endeaver, I will be posting my progress as I work on it.I am open to any and all ideas, suggestions etc. etc. Stay tuned.........

The ecu has additional fault detection for the automatic gearbox, i think you may come into issues with it chucking itself in limp mode believing there to be a gearbox fault, because its not there lol......

And then there's going to be the fun with the pedal box, running a hydraulic feed for the clutch, the switches on the pedals, this isn't going to be a simple swop...
Good luck with this conversion, it will take a lot determination and cash but it will be well worth it in the end. I had a 3.0 X type manual and it was great fun. I drove an auto version and was not impressed, not a great auto in my opinion.
