The Lesser Spotted X100 Page

Looking at the popularity of the X351s out in the wild spotters page, seems high time there was an X100 equivalent. Same rule - photo(s), or it were a figleaf of your imaginings.... Bonus and penalty points decided by thread participants. :ROFLMAO:

Since falling into this rabbit hole, I've only seen three on driveways, and one from Brentwood which I'm sure had just been sold on Ebay whizzing past on the A14. But it was too fast for a pic.

Could be that few sightings of the elusive lesser spotted X100 may mean this is a quiet thread... Time will tell.

Nice one MMM,

I'll be on the lookout, know of a few hereabouts so should have no trouble photographing them.

I take it this is for those we see whilst out and about and not spotted at a car meet/gathering?

Should I post every time I’m home and look out the front window?

I must admit, not entirely sure of the precise X351 Spotter rules and culture, I suspect determined / overseen by Smoggy Steve @#steve. Da Rulz could be imported, adapted by popular vote, or we just make it up as we go along, like they do.

For Ease of Reference, sample the delights of the X351 bantz here...

@#steve and @mac_doctor are duly proposed as Thread Consultants.

As for photos of one's own transport of delight, I do believe that's Streng Verboten, because that's what one's own Ownership Thread is for, after all. But trips to Scarborough in search of @captain crappycrimp 's Shaguar might be frowned upon, unless that quest were via the magical Stokesly to Helmsley road.

We're looking for the endangered species wild X100s.

My rough hypothesis posits that upon the streets in a UK Summer:

XF = 100
X351 = 10
X100 = 1

Indeed. Scientific venture, this.

...mine was the 5th X100 he'd seen in the area that day!

Huh. I think this is a Most Whopping Fib made to @orsom weels . He doesn't strike me as especially gullible, but we need extensive field research to confirm it so.

XF = 100

Based on my experience, I would say that the X351 and X100 numbers are much closer, and may even be slightly in favour of the XK.

The objective is to share the love, so any car should be allowed in the thread once.

... and on that subject - you have a photo thread with no photos in it! To get you started, here is one of a car I haven't seen in a while:

Given there were 122k X351s, and 95k X100s buiilt(?) and some 25% of both let loose on UK roads, and while the latter have been subject to some 15 years more attrition, and corrosion, with X351's being mostly aluminium, albeit more complex, then I'd question that supposition...?

Not a supposition, just an observation.

Them wheels look nice... Presumably BBS given the rim stud things, what's that one called?

Be good to collect the full set of X100 alloys on here too for extra Brownie points.

20" Montréals. The best XK wheels by far in my opinion.

I saw this one at a car show today, and as I'm not driving it, it counts 😁

Yesterday while being guided around Scarborough's four used CD emporiums by the Captain's Elder Daughter, we espied a later (chrome edged rear lights) convertible - blue with blue hood. Moving too fast for a pic. But as I do have a reliable witness, well versed in X100 recognition, that's worth at least five points.

Well if you're gonna bend the rules this early on, I can claim a couple like that. Firstly, while shopping with Mrs O, both of us with hands full of shopping bags, so no photo opportunity, a dark blue coupe drove past us. Mrs O actually said "look, an XK", so a fully and reliably witnessed spot :)(y)

And secondly, there's my mates convertible, which I see fairly regularly, and could even provide photographic evidence for, but didn't really think it was 'in the spirit' of the challenge.

However, I can also make what I believe you can't deny is a bona fide first genuine claim,

Seen in the wilds of Norfolk yesterday, and caught on dash cam..............

In the light of that very valid observation, I'd say 20 points.

There are extra special points on offer for volunteering to closely inspect one for the friendly old boy we met yesterday, that's got to be worth 50 goody two-shoes points.

Trawling around car shows looking for unsuspecting punters to let you go inspect X100's on some pretext or other is a dastardly underhanded way of boosting your point tally :eek:
