As suggested by others, I shall jump on the bandwagon with regular updates about my ownership of my first ever Jaguar, an XJ Portfolio Diesel, 2010MY, first registered 2011.

Car purchased April 2017 following the demise of my previous car, a 1998 Vauxhall Omega MV6 3l petrol, subsequently LPG converted, which I'd owned since 2003, and had covered well over 230k. I still own a later Omega 3.2 with LPG, which is Mrs TheBoy's daily. And a clapped out Zafira, bought primarily as a storage facility after I accidentally blew my garage up.

I tend to do my own work on cars, being deeply distrusting of "professionals", and particularly franchised dealers, who are universally the scum of the universe... ...nice coffee and cake, and a "free" car wash with every overpriced bit of work they claim to do will not alter my opinion.

I tend to keep my cars until they are due to be converted to baked bean tins, and they are a tool, a workhouse. My cars are not a thing of pride that I need to polish every Sunday afternoon. In fact, I have never polished a car in my life. My car history isn't overly exciting, mostly consisting of BL/Rover and Vauxhall.

Most of what I have had to do is service and wear & tear related:
New tyres all round - GY GTs at front, Mich PS4 at rear
New pads all round
Normal servicing, including air, pollen and oil filters, and oil servicing every 6k (as its a diesel)
Headlight bulbs, at 7yrs old, they were beginning to get tired
Polybushed the forward end of the lower front wishbone, as existing bush was knackered. Poly means it will never need doing again.

I've had a few "niggles", including:
Drivers door locking (replaced motor)
Passenger door locking (replaced motor)
Passenger mirror not unfolding on hot days (seems to be worse when left unused, possibly battery?)
Leaking headlight washer, believed to be caused by rubbish screenwash (Triple QX from ECP) freezing, spliting the seal (replaced unit)

Some problems have been self inflicted, particularly around the Infotainment system, and Nav map updates (that I've yet to actually succeed on):
One bricked touchscreen, a firmware flash failed. Replaced.
One knackered IAM module, caused (or caused by) failed Nav update.

Wahey, nice one boy, how about adding a pic or two of your workhorse for posterity?

Looks like you've been a busy "Boy" and done plenty, good choice on the servicing too, thought about the fuel filter though?

What sort of mileage is she on now?

I'm sure I've seen a few good threads of yours re work done on the car, you could actually open another page and search out your created threads that are applicable and add them here, keeps it all in one place and lets others see what you've done and how you've got there :-D

Look forward to updates...

Cheers

I don't have any up to date ones :D

These are the only ones I have, from shortly after I bought it...

The Omega that is in front of the Jag is the Omega that it replaced. The Omega behind it is Mrs TB's daily.

And who thinks they own this car?

I think you may be confusing me with mac_doctor, who loves his red wheels... ...or that JimC64 fella, who paints everything red.

I paint my wheels in "Pagid Pad Black"... ...which occasionally gets removed using the famous one bucket and 49p Tesco sponge method.

Great to see another showthread beginning, long may it continue.

Keep the pics coming.

A Jaguar is a car above many others, not all, but the vast majority.

As such it commands respect and admiration, I for one hope you'll break the habit of a lifetime and polish it.

It'll appease my OCD and..........

Gets you out of the way if, like me, you find yourself in the Dog House.

....Just before I added the red wheels.
oh. Ha-ha. You can tell it isn't mine, mine doesn't say "XJ" on the back. That is a cracking bit of parking, by the way.

Put another hard disk in the IAM, but unsurprisingly, the system didn't seem to recognise it... ...though slightly different errors to the (suspected) corrupted/failed original.

More homework required :(

Contemplating filling it back up with electricity, seeing as its sat unused/unloved for a while.

How embarrassing :D.

I did check tyres and fluids a few days ago though. And KimC64 will be delighted to hear its still plastered with Scottish flies.

Who is this KimC64 you speak of?
I must have a word as it looks like they're username is very close to mine and could cause some confusion...…

You may take our flies, but you'll never take our...….oh wait, maybe you will lol

Nearly trashed it into the central reservation after a very slow moving white van man decided to change lanes at the most inconvenient time.

Flicked up a few pebbles, so need to check if any damage caused.
