Touch Screen Question - Phone menu option

1565 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  acoach4u
Hi everyone I am new to this forum but not to being a Jaguar Fan-I have just purchased my 5th, a 2009 XFR which I imported from Japan.

After watching some UTUBE Videos on how to program using the touch screen, particularly the phone docking/blue tooth set up, I cannot find the Phone Menu option at all on the home page screen as was shown on all the videos I watched. The menu only shows Audio, Climate, Navigation and Vehicle in descending order.

Can some one help with what the problem could be? Could it be hidden, could it be the vehicle does not have blue tooth, or is there a "lite" version of the touch screen which doesn't have a phone option at all? The owners manual seems to indicate that every F Type is equipped with the blue tooth / phone option.

Thanks in advance for any heads up on this

Hiya Coach!

You've posted in the wrong section.

But I'm not sure after reading your post whether you have an XF or an F-Type?

Hi SV8Predator

Thanks for your reply and welcome, I will repost in the XF thread.
I notice you own a couple of Jensons. I remember back in the day I worked part time in a dealership/service station that was the sole NZ importer of the Interceptor: I remember the day the first one was delivered thinking it was the coolest auto I had ever seen. Later that evening after my shift, sitting in the drivers seat completely on cloud nine for about 30 minutes and wondering what I could do to ever own one. In the end I had to settle for my first Jaguar a few years later a 1959 white Mk One. The Interceptor was a beautiful looking car back then an still is today IMO.
No need to repost, I’ve already moved this one!

welcome to the forum.
If the phone menu is not there at all its likely that the Japan market didn't get bluetooth. Maybe it's illegal in that country?
Thanks for your help Glenno

My first Jag was a black Mk 1 (then a white Mk 1!).

That would be Jensen Motors New Zealand, owned by Ross Jensen. The company is still going, now owned by a good friend of mine.
Jensen Motors

Wow what a small world we live in: Absolutely spot on: It was one of 3 part time jobs I had - service station attendant for Jensen Motors. Ross was also the first to import the BMW to NZ and he drove a black 635csi (I think that was the model). The company banked with the bank I worked for just down the road in Newmarket. Ross and his son in law Tony Lambert who played rep Rugby for Auckland later become good friends.
What I didn't tell you was that evening I sat in the Interceptor I had just completed the service station close down procedure, read the pumps, reconciled the banking and placed that and the takings in a bag in the safe. (or so I thought) What happened was i had actually taken the banking bag into the Interceptor and placed it on the passenger seat, where it was left.
The next morning I was called into the Bank Manager's office to explain what had happened to Jensen Motor's takings from the previous night as it wasn't in the safe. I swore of course that I had followed the same procedure I went through every night and the banking should have been in the safe where I had placed it!!

That morning one of the mechanics had driven the Jensen down into the service area for a pre-delivery check out and had placed a large towel on the passenger seat hiding the canvas bag..It was found 2 days later by the detailer as the car was getting prepared for delivery. What a relief..But to this day I would have sworn I had placed that bag in the safe and had no memory at all of putting it on the Interceptor seat.

On the XFR side I have ordered a Blue Tooth audio, hands free adaptor to use through the Aux input. I am thrilled with the Jag too - without doubt the nicest and best performed Jag I have owned. It amazes me it actually turns a few heads. It is a very good looker in French Racing Blue with the black alloy Rtype wheels.
best Richard.
