You need to unbolt the seat and take a closer look. You need to determine which motor is the problem as there may be more than one. If there is only one motor, and you know the motor operates, the problem might be with the drive cable. I don't think this will be a difficult fix (famous last words). You just need to lokk at what part is missing or broken. Can you use the passenger's seat for reference?
The thumping from rear could be a dozen things. Best to get the wheel off the ground (safety first!) and check for play at the wheel (wheel bearing) but also observe for any play right up through the universal joints of the halfshafts up to the diff output shaft. With the wheel an inch from the ground, get a spade under the tyre and lever it up - look at suspension components especially lower shock bush.
