Hey folks, need some advice here..
Few month ago I noticed that my car starts to vibrate every time the car drives at the 6th gear, somewhere between 80 and 100 Km/h, dealer investigated and after several fixes (trans oil change, programming, etc...) recommended replacing the gear box under the extended warranty which I accepted.
Now I got a call from them saying that they have replaced the gear box but they are still noticing a body vibration while driving around 80 Km/h, which is exactly why I took it there the first time. Dealer is now requesting to replace the engine mountings stating this is required to fix the issue but this doesn't make much sense to me since there is almost no vibration while driving at other gears.
Need your advice here if anyone has seen a similar issue and whether I should accept replacing the engine mountings which wont be covered by the warranty..
My cat is the 2016 XF R-Sport V6 Supercharged.

I recon the engine mounts might need replacement but still few miles in them. Car has only 40k so far… thought find it strange since these would normally cause vibration at idle and not while driving at a specific gear and not the others…

I would. New mounts are nice to have given there have been issues with them. As long as it solves the issue your good.
However, if the issue is not resolved I wouldn’t be paying for them.
Request that they road test the car afterwards for the vibration and then do the same yourself before you pay for it.

I wouldn’t. The gearboxes are very robust.
Your issue could lie with tyres, wheels engine mounts or exhaust vibration dampers.
I guess it could be the prop shaft too.

If your symptoms go away when a lower gear is selected, you can rule out a lot of those things.
