Hi, I've finally got my Jaguar XK8 conv 1999!!!! The guy that sold me the car said that the window needed re setting as it had been stood a while but unfortunately it seems that the window regulator is broken. I've tried several breakers and have only found 1 at a cost of £150!!! Does anyone know where I could get this part from any cheaper???

Try Eurojag in Darlington
They are the biggest one in the UK breaking 400 Jags at any one time
I've sent emails to several companies and am waiting for their reply including Euro Jag. Cheers anyway BuckMR2.
You will be better off ringing Eurojag
Just spoke to them - £120 + vat!! The guy that looked at the window problem for me said it was the motor that had gone. The window works up and down but it jumps on the ratchet when reaching closed position so I cant reset the window. Can you buy the motor seperately or do you have to buy the whole thing?
Hi You Have to buy the whole thing now unfortunately my name is Ryan i work in the XJK Jaguar Ltd parts department please give me a ring on 01782 613434 or e-mail me at [email protected]
JTIS explains how to remove the motor from the regulator assemby which implies to me that motor and regulator assy are both available separately.
Just a thought, never having had to get at this piece of mechanism myself (Yet!) Looking at the easy removal process and at the 'apparent' simplicity of the toothed quadrant of the regulator, if it was mine, I'd get it out and have a look with a view to repairing it. If it's a quadrant tooth that worn or missing, it might not be beyond a keen fixer to screw/weld/solder a new piece in and then file to shape. Satisfying sort of job when it works out!
What does the 'window regulator' do ?
Thanks astromorg. do you know where I can get the JTIS from for the mac? Litho its the thing that sends your window up and down.
It was never available for the mac as all dealers used Windows at the time
I did up a 2002 xk8 and have the damaged door in the farmyard - cant even remember which door but if you get in touch we could maybe sort something out for you
Hi its the drivers door side i need?
Only quick way round this that I can see is if you pm me an address to which I can send the article from JTIS in hard copy! Let me know.

I too have heard of this and saw pictures of a damaged quadrant. Have you tried Trevor at Jagslags 0208 7780948 ?
Thanks guys, I think I've found one and I've got one other place to try that opens Monday thats local. If not i'll try Jagslags. Thanks again.
Litho: A window regulator controls the up and down motions of a car's side window. JWB125: Try to download the JTIS from this link. Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire If you don't want the hassle to download, then look around on ebay. I'm sure you'll find one. It is also very easy to use on a Mac, you can either boot windows on your Mac or use an emulator like WineBottler/Wine. Just Google this and install it. Thanks.

I had trouble getting a driver's mechanism at a good price when I was shopping. In the end, I bought a passenger-side mech from the States at a really good price. Plug and play, because passenger-side there is drivers-side here :)

My regulator had worn the three or four teeth that get used to auto-drop/lift the glass upon door-opening/closure. It's dead easy to replace as a complete unit.

I'd definitely take that on as a bit of straightforward dental work! How's the pinion that drives it looking?
Pinion is in fine fettle ! It's just the 'frequently used teeth'.

Someone suggested cutting a chunk out and welding a new toothed chunk in - or some flat plat and cutting/filing new teeth into the plate.

Not sure if such generic segments are available, but that would be another route.
