I had mine replaced about 18 months ago without issue. Auto glass.
Can it not be removed?
Have you checked with Jaguar?
It's a little bit worrying if a company as big as Autoglass can't source a solution !

At an admittedly quick glance it looks like the top trim that came with the new glass could perhaps fit your S type, even though it is different from what's there at the moment. It's just a trim to cover the edge of the glass, the windscreen bonding seals out water. Did the Autoglass fitter explain why it wouldn't fit?

Autoglass fitted a new windscreen to my S-type 2004 ok a month ago, but I do not have the heated winscreen.
Dont know if that makes a difference.
Can`t see what year your S-type is in your Sig, I dont know if they are all the same through out model and year,
I see that you are from Kent, what part? as there is a guy in New Romney that is stripping an S-type and had the screen for sale.
I can forward details to you if want to check?

Do you now how the trims are attached to the glass? I imagine they are just glued in place. So I wonder if it's possible to swap the trim from you damaged windscreen and attach it to the new windscreen, since Autoglass has confirmed the windscreens are the same.

Problem with that is the screen has to come out first. If it then can’t be swapped the OP is stuck.

AutoGlass fitter said no way can he get it off my old screen, as they prime glass then glue/bond it to screen.

We had an issue at work once with a complicated detail, so looked at bespoke solutions.

Handy to know this can be an issue though, I need a screen eventually on the black car.

It seems very odd that Autoglass can't source the LATER windscreen and top trim, but they can source the earlier version. It's normally the other way round.
The Jaguar dealer was pretty unhelpful in just saying "Jaguar don't make windscreen or trims for the S type now". Of course they don't - and they never have! Windscreens are made by just a few specialist glass companies - Pilkington is one - and all car manufacturers use them. It might be worth a call or email to Jaguar Customer Services quoting your VIN and ask them who can supply a suitable windscreen. Alternatively, seek out another windscreen replacement company - they may have access to the correct replacement.
