Just been out to look at our S types, and they all appear to be the same trim, 2002 2.5, 2004 X202 3.0, and late 2006 diesel. None look like the Autoglass one pictured, they all look like your original?

It was a bit dark, but tried to get some pic's,

Yes, I thought they all looked the same as yours, so that's an early X202, a late x202, Andy's X204, and two X206's that are all the same, that really only leaves the first generation X200. Sadly I don't have that to look at any more, it went to that great Jaguar resting place in the sky, but from memory, I don't think it was any different from the others, perhaps someone who still has an early X200 car could confirm? I'm particularly interested here, as Mrs O's diesel has a crack propagating from the O/S lower corner, so will soon require a screen, and I think her insurance co use Autoglass

What is meant by electrochromatic as an option?
Just the mirror?
Yes, the mirror mount is bonded to the screen, and are different between the manual dip mirror and the electrochromatic mirror, so I guess different screens?

Looking at these responses and the pictures of S types and their windscreen top trims, is it possible that you got an Autoglass operative who didn't know what he was talking about?
I would suggest going to a different Autoglass depot or a different windscreen replacer to see what they can supply.

From a search it seems that the version without the "U" shaped seal is from 1999-2002. Now we just need an owner to have a look to confirm.

You'll never find one of those! Wait...

OK, I'll TRY and go to the garage tomorrow... Need to take the battery off it anyway.

The top trim appears to be integral to the windscreen itself and does not appear to be available as a separate part. View attachment 60725
What's this then? (that reads rude, I'm not being rude... well, for me that's technically lying, because I am... er... Rude, but I hope you know what I mean)

XR817619 - Jaguar Windscreen finisher

1999-2008 Not available tho.

Are Jaguar twisting our melons again?

You could buy this and be bitterly disappointed 2 weeks of no comms later when they cancel the sale?

M45254 is the last X200, so 2002.5, but the description clearly states 'S-type 1999 - 2008', so some inconsistency there?
It'll be interesting to see what Rude finds when he looks at his X200, but as I said in an earlier post, I don't remember it being/looking different on our old 1999 car.

ooh, it is different! I'd have put money on it being the same.

Not sure I'd have risked the old hard earned, but I really don't remember our old X200 looking that different, but then again, I suppose it's not something you pay particular attention to, so..........

AutoGlass guy said it wouldn't fit! something to do with side trims fitting over it, maybe more to it than that!
Ok, right, this is something I am sure about. The side trims were exactly the same on the X200 and my X202 2.5. I know this because I swapped them before sending the X200 on it's final journey. My 2.5 ones were bubbling with rust, and the old X200 ones were like new still, so for the sake of pulling the door rubber and a few screws........... ;)
