At it again then Jim, busy, busy with the TLC on the Big Cats and good idea about the 'magic marker', and ever helpful to fellow members with invaluable tips. I think most of my file on 'Forum Tips' is down to your sage advice (y):giggle:

Now that would be interesting if you change your badges to black, although I don't think I would be surprised about Peter's XE as being new and with a RED RACY feel to it, he is probably still very much in the mood for change and modification
Little bits n bobs here n there Gina, as you do......

Its a thought for the XF, although Tress loves the std so will probably stay as is, I always do what she tells me you see ;)

Peter will be a change at some point

Think the next big thing for the XF will be a clean if I can get her interested in that lol

Yep all the tips I can get are most welcome when you have an old lady..... The car.
You saved that, at the end there Bob :ROFLMAO:

Love the way you love that ole girl........The car!

Stayed dry today so managed to get both cars cleaned, first time in a while

Tire Vehicle registration plate Wheel Automotive tail & brake light Car

Tress's as usual needs more....

A quick trip to the garage to put the light out by adding fuel, shows how empty it was as it swallowed £99.00
I added a bottle of Redex whilst I was at it, tyres quickly checked and all ok and windscreen washer filled up too ( I swear she thinks its self replenishing lol )

Considering the interior lights changing to leds, we'll see on that one
Also considering the swap of rear emblems to gloss black ( after discussion on XJimmys thread ) but think Tress prefers the chrome so we'll see

Coincidently whilst having a look at a favourite video blogger of mine, a South Arican XF owner who gives a nice little run down on what's required, fitting etc etc,
Will do the dynamic indicators but not the carbon fibre covers

I was thinking that the XF could do with an oil change, and probably DEF top up too, around that time.

I did a quick check, last time the oil was changed was 06.04.22 at 49,425 miles, today at 54,283 is 4,858 miles so about that time right enough, will look to try and get it done in the next few weeks.
Tress came in this morning, and just for laughs asked her if she knew the levels on her DEF to which she said no, there's been no warnings ( no amber alerts she means! )
I check the car later, ignition on and BAM straight away, Diesel exhaust fluid level low.

I headed off to Screwfix and literally as I pulled into the car park, the amber alert came on lol, couldn't write the script. Anyway usual 10 litres bought and headed home, got it topped up, took the full 10 litres of course.
When checking the levels there was 994 miles till no start, topped up the full 10 litres and now the range is 5,654 miles

I'm going to look at doing the fuel filter shortly too, probably early into next year, not bloody cheap at around £53.00 thereabouts, but saw a genuine one for £36.00 so may get a couple for stock.
Oil, filter and air filter all already in stock, good to go

Update for my reference...08.11.2022
Oil and DEF fluid change timescale / mileage for my reference

This is a note for my reference only mainly, and to answer a question in another thread, also may be useful for others moving forward.

Oil changes, dates and mileages
19.06.2021 @ 42,629 miles car serviced at Jaguar dealers and oil / filter changed
06.04.2022 @ 49,425 miles – 6,796 miles travelled between changes

DEF fluid top ups, dates and mileages
19.06.2021 @ 42,629 miles car serviced at Jaguar dealers and DEF fluid topped up
03.02.2022 @ 48,320 miles – 5,691 miles travelled between refills
19.05.2022 4.0 litres @ 50,431 miles – 2,111 miles travelled between refills

Need to get around to this oil change, just for my peace of mind.

Also thinking about the fuel filter for this car too, unsure when it was last done exactly, so really need a starting point to be sure, to be sure.

The filters for these ingenium engines are bloody expensive, anywhere from £50 - £60 depending on where you look. Anyhow, found SytnerJLR in Bristol selling them for £36.00 and so got one ordered, on reflection maybe should've just ordered 2.

Still have these Mirror indicators to do too..

Always something to do with these felines Jim, nothing cheap about them either, get something sorted, look away and before you know it something else pops along, hey-ho, how does that saying go? Something like, I think they're worth it, scrub that, of course they're worth it (y)

Does the XF have an app too? I have the app for Janis’s car on my phone so if anything pops up I get the notification too as she’s “prone to forgetting to remind me”.

Well oil / filter change time today, hoping to get fuel filter done too.
I caught up with John earlier this morning, ready to head over and get there for 09.30am before the rain REALLY starts, but missed that boat, oil / filter and Autel in the car with me all ready to go, except the fuel filter which never arrived yesterday.
Of course I was 15 minutes away from the house and on the motorway when the phone rang.
Hi Fedex here, we have a delivery for you. Great!

It was a genuine one, cost £36 when some are asking £50 - £60 and so a decent price.

Couldn't write the script about the timing though.

Got to John's and battered in straight away, before the rain really settled in and got it done, no issues, gave her 6 litres and will top up as required later when the weather / time allows
The service message was around a little over 5000 miles until service required before starting, and so set about resetting that and brought out the mighty Autel to try, showing it to John and letting him have a play with it.

John was quite impressed, very easy to use and quick to do its thing, reset A ok to 19,950 miles ( not that she'll go a third of that before being done again )

Once done we were having a catch up about his X358 / X351 and what he was doing there, also about some of the little mod / updates done recently and there was a knock at the door.

" Auld Jackie" clearly a local pensioner, well known old timer was having car trouble, wouldn't start, nothing at all and could John help?
Community spirit in action right there, love it.

The story was, the car was fine, recently drove 10 miles or more with no issues, parked up and went into the shop, came out, nothing, not even any lights!
I said I'd go with John and we'd take the Autel just in case it could help.

When we arrived it was a Peugeot RCZ, a little unloved and probably just tootling about, a few miles here, a few miles there.
The thoughts ranged from battery / starter motor etc, anyhow, John sidled up the X358 and connected the jump leads and the dash lit up, but nothing

Wheel Tire Car Vehicle Land vehicle

Computer Personal computer Output device Gadget Communication Device

Connected up the Autel and a whole list of codes appeared.
Just at that there was a message on the dash John said, service interval exceeded by 3000 miles and we both thought DPF, maybe the car's reached its limit and the no start scenario has kicked in??

Anyhow, all codes cleared and reset except the code which related to DPF full, so nothing much further to be done unfortunately.

We did try and call a local DPF cleaner specialist, no joy, then John took him down to a local garage to see how he got on from there, I had to leave at that point, but hopefully the ole boy got sorted.

A win for me getting the oil changed out and the service reset no issues too.
Another win for the Autel which proved itself quite a capable piece of kit today, and although I said to John,he could borrow mine anytime, I have a funny feeling, like me, he'd rather have his own and will no doubt purchase one immediately if not sooner knowing him.

More to do, fuel filter on the XF as well as on the XJ X351 along with the other little bits n pieces such as cain filter and a few more led's etc

Wow Jim, what a great day yours turned out to be all things considered and I'm pooped just reading about it. (y)

Shame about the FedEx/fuel filter business, and great that you were willing and able to go and help out the failing RCZ and owner, chuffed for you with the working of the Autel, even more so that it performance was tip-top so much so that John will probably be making a purchase of the same pretty soon too.

All in all, a cracking Saturday so far

You should have said you were going to Johns today, I might have managed to sneak out for an hour to catch up with you both.

Good to see the Autel earning its crust shame it couldn’t help the Peugeot, would it not start at all to try a forced regen?

Following on from Saturdays oil change I had a chance to double check the levels

We added 6 litres, maybe 6.2 litres thereabouts and after checking, she's showing just over 3/4 full and so happy with that.

The fuel gauge was just short of "FILL ME NOW" but was left, the windscreen washer was just about MT and so filled that up, so she could see where she was going before running out of fuel lol

I left some spare in the boot, just on the off chance she ever decides to fill it at any point.

Off to watch Brazil / Switzerland
