Hello all.

My Jaguar is due for an 84 month service next year. Various specialists have given me prices between 1800-2500 € for the complete service. This includes the camshaft belt and auxillary belt change. The XF X260 3.0D has no chain. I looked at the service plan. I'm a little shocked. Is there a specialist around Dover that you can recommend who has experience with this? Jaguar is rather unknown in Germany, so maybe prices here are higher. I'm seriously considering driving over there if it's cheaper in the UK to get the service done.

Thanks in advance

There’s a well regarded specialist in Doncaster that does the cam belt service for something closer to £600.
Probably a bit too far for you but prices do seem to vary in the UK.
‘The Jag specialist’ in Doncaster is one of the best and cheapest around.
Hopefully someone will know a good specialist in the south east for you.

I have had quotes between £400 and £500 for the cambelt and water pump.

I'd probably agree with MrKis on TheJagspecialist in Doncaster.

You will be in great hands with knowledgable people....tell him you're a member of Jaguarforums and were recommended if you do.

Good luck
Jim

Doncaster is a very long distance from Dover away. I am not used to drive on the "wrong"-side of the road :) I have read a lot of good things about them. But that does not help me getting there. I will see what to do. If I have to change brake pads and disks also, that would mean a bill for over 3.000 € which is a lot of money. I don´t know if a 3.0D is worth that kind of money in our troubled times.

I’m in the same boat with the high cost of the 7 year service coming up next year. It’s an extreme amount for a cam belt change and a service with a main dealer, even with the 3+ year discount some do offer here in UK.
Hope you get a better price somewhere else.

Depends where you are but the Rotterdam to Hull ferry is a good option for Doncaster, or maybe a ferry to Harwich.
Tom Lenthal is another well renowned specialist. I think he’s in the south east somewhere. Not sure how many diesels he does though.
