Hi there,

I have a 2.2D sport, 2007 (new owner). My cigar lighter does not work.
I would like this to power the sat nav, phone, etc.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the fuse? I assume it has been removed.

Thank you.

Try fuse No 52 in the fusebox at the rear of the glove box. It should be rated at 15 amps. Its the 4th fuse from the right in the top row of fuses.

Trying not to sound a bit stupid here  but where is the fusebox? I looked inside the glove box and didn't see anything. I looked under the glove box and there was a panel. I removed the 2 plastic screws holding the panel but it didn't want to come out easily so I didn't force it.

Finally got round checking this fuse today now the days are getting a bit lighter when I get home from work. There was no problem with the fuse. Any ideas where to check next? There is no light on the surround either. I only need it to charge the sat nav and the phone.

I have the same problem with my newly-acquired 55-plate estate. Fuse seems fine but cigar lighter doesn't warm up and accessory plug doesn't pick up power from it either. I am currently plugging it into the boot socket which works fine. Any suggestions where else to look ?

Thanks, John - that turned out to be an easy fix - unclip the gear surround, undo a couple of screws and out comes the ashtray unit, complete with cigar lighter, revealing that all the connecting wires had been taken off. Put them back on and we are in business. Seems a fairly extreme way to discourage smokers by a previous owner.

It has almost restored my faith in the X-type's accessibility after fiddling around with that inaccessible fuse box behind the glove compartment - managed to drop a fuse behind the trim panel, and on removing it to recover the fuse discovered I wasn't the first to do so, as there was the previously-missing fuse removal tool, complete with a fuse clamped in its jaws !

If I need to access the internal fuse box I remove the glovebox: four Torx screws: two semi-hidden in the upper closing pads and two lower down. In true Jaguar fashion, the lowers are a different Torx size from the uppers .......

I don't have my X-Type anymore but I did not have to remove the glovebox to get at the internal fuse box. There was a small panel at the back that just pulls off in order to access the fuses - still a bit awkward to pull out a fuse but I used a small pair of long-nosed pliers.

Erm... I never said one HAD to remove the glovebox, I was making the point that it makes access a whole lot easier. Apologies for any confusion.
