Considering a 2011 XF. Pros/Cons? Incredible value? Or am I missing something here?

Considering purchasing a 2011 XF. Two in my area for sale. Both are under 50,000 miles. Both are in excellent condition. Both are in the $15,000 range.
This will be my wife's car.

These cars seem to offer an incredible amount of luxury for what they sell for used. Kelly Blue Book values both of these in the $15k range and that's in the range of what they're selling for.

What am I missing here? Are these particular Jaguar models not holding their value for some reason?

High maintenance? Questionable reliability?

Must be something going on. I just can't believe I can buy a car this nice in this price range.

Thanks, and I look forward to being part of this forum.

Hi and welcome. We're mostly UK based so can't really comment on US prices. Jaguar had reliability issues decades ago (in the bad days of Government ownership) and the reputation stuck to some extent, so it is true that traditionally Jaguar has always had higher depreciation than the Germans. In the same way, the German models have a reputation for reliability based on how they were built decades ago. Also not really relevant to today's models but image and often undeserved reputation drives prices. These days, there's little to choose between them. I've had 2 E Classes and a C class and they were excellent, very reliable cars and I'd say I've had a couple more minor trim issues with the Jag than I did with the Mercs, but in terms of mechanical issues, the Jag has had no issues in the 4 1/2 years I've owned it. Not something I could say about the Mercs and those were better made than the current models!
So no, if the prices are not unusually low for your area then I'd say you've discovered a secret - go and have a test drive.

See if you can find a 3.0 D "S".
Extra horsepower and incredible performance and acceleration.
All round mine is one of the best cars I've ever owned.
And at 73 I've owned a lot !!!
