So, checking daily for cars nearby for what seems like a millenium (most cars are down south..hint where Ill be then...and or black which i dont want). Would rather purchase from some sort of dealer but now considering private.

To cut a long story short seen one thats had a service at a non jag/specialist garage noting it put in '5W-30 Fully Synthetic X Tech Ford Duratec oil (ACEA A5/B5).

I know the 4.2s use 5W-30 but just hadnt read this being used. I know its from the ford era as such but ford duratec makes me wonder if they have used incorrect oil? (Also does any 5w-30 work whether its semi or fully synthetic?).

Thanks for any help

Wouldn't worry too much about that, the standard that was recommended for the 4.2 was superceded into these new ones which are backwards compatible with the old one. Ford is the spec apparently, the crucial thing is it's had 5W30 oil changes in the first place, ideally before 10k miles each time
