after pressing phone/menu at same time I went into my settings and I hit SW UPDATE not knowing what it would do, it pretty much killed my car!
screen went black and now car wont even start. If I try to start car it just makes a tic sound and that's it, nav screen also remains black.

I've tried to disconnect the battery and reconnect it and that never worked, I also have the 2011-2012 Navigation disc, do I need a software disc now though to get my car operational? or can I somehow get my car running again with that disc?

The car is a 2003 Jaguar S-type R if anyone can help me it would be Greatly appreciated!!!

Have you tried moving the gear stick to neutral and see if it will start? I'm assuming its an auto?

You need to see at least 12.2 volts at the battery terminals.

If you have the same voltage drop as I have on my car, 0.4 volts, the electronics modules only see 11.8 volts at 12.2 volts.

Any lower than that is borderline so you will need to charge your battery overnight.

If the battery is above 12.2 volts then check the volts at the cigar lighter socket in case you have a bigger volts drop. If so then you will need to check the battery cable connections and clean them up to reduce the volts drop as much as possible.

After that check the volts at each fuse box.

Then hunt out the starter relay. There is a relay locations document in our S Type Stickies forum.

If you disconnect your battery when you charge it, the electronics will Hard Reset. Otherwise to do a quick one you need to disconnect the cables and short them together for a couple of minutes, or leave them off for about 10 minutes. Some people say longer but I don't know.

hi
I think the only way of getting this to work is by,
you have to burn a file to a dvd and then load it in the sat nav and it reloads the software
will try to find it for you
cheers
Joe

this will only cure the nav blank screen, if you hit update sat nav software
if you hit transmission update, you need someone with SDD/IDS software or a main dealer can sort it

Hi

this will only cure the blank screen if you hit update sat nav software

Found it this should do it

here is the file you will need to get rid of the blank screen.

1. Burn in a Dual layer DVD using the slowest speed.
2. Turn on car, insert disk.
3. Turn off car.
4. Turn on car and wait for it to start reading. It should come up automatically

instructions opens with word https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/77859730/INSTRUCTIONS.doc

Nice one Joedotcom.

Is this for all Jags or only the S Type?

If it's only for S Types would you put this in our S Type Stickies too so it can be found easily next time someone needs it?

If it's for all Jags a link there to where it can be found would be great.

Hi
This is for the s-type, but will also work on the x-type with the same touch display and denso nav unit, also same on some xj and xjr's
this is for if you have pressed the update navigation software in the hidden menu's of the touch screen
don't know if i have access to add this to the stickies, but i'm sure someone on here can
thanks
Joe
