Good Morning all,

A couple of days ago I got the "Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality" warning, never hears of such a warning. It is always displayed now and cannot be simply reset. I have seen some posts on the XE forum saying a software update can fix it however my car shows no update available. Or a faulty sensor.

The only Ad Blue that has ever been added is by the dealer and with such a low mileage that I do, it never reports a low fluid level warning.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Have found another post on this, looks like a visit to the dealer, which is not open during the COVID issue, but any comments are still welcome

If you have jaguar breakdown or any other breakdown call them and see what they say, because you might need your car if you have an emergency but i hope not.

When i bought my XF from a Ford Garage it was showing a Amber Triangle to do with the Ad-Blue ( i forget what the message actually said) and it turned out that the Ford Garage had bought 16 litres of Ad Blue from the Jaguar Dealer .
So it was nothing to do with Incorrect Ad-Blue, so whether Ford had over filled which it says in the Handbook that over filling can cause problems.
The Jaguar Dealer had to Drain the System and refill with New Ad Blue to Clear the Fault Message on the Dash, and the Ford Garage paid the ÂŁ160 pounds that Jaguar wanted and evering is working as it should.

Regards Tom.

AdBlue is quite corrosive, it is possible that you have a corroded connector somewhere.

Thanks for the comments. My warranty expired and I took up an extended warranty and also renewed the Jaguar app thingy. Not sure if I am still covered for the breakdown cover though, need to look into that. Car continues to work okay but cannot clear the warning. If nothing else causes an issue I will wait until I can go to a dealer, I have emailed my usual dealer but no response as I think they are on lockdown like so many of us.

Follow the rules and stay safe everybody.

Hi all. Sorry, I meant to update this the other day. The warning of the "Incorrect DEF" was followed by a 500 mile warning of "no restarts". My understanding was that you got a much bigger mileage countdown if the DEF was running low. Anyway, I decided to call the Jaguar assist and they sent someone out in good time (quite impressed to be honest). The guy phoned me just before arriving and I gave him more details of the problem. The technician said the mileage warning kind of goes hand in hand with the Incorrect DEF warning. He plugged in an analyser and told me that the fault codes did not make much sense, no specific fault regarding such things like blocked injectors noted. He reset the warnings and took it for a test drive. Afterwards he said that the fault had cleared okay and that it showed that only 0.7 litre was required for a top up. He thought that was a little low based on when it was last topped up and thought that an "overfill" may have been the issue. Anyway, the fault has been cleared and the last few short journeys I have had are not reporting any issues.

Hope DERRYJAG you get on okay, let us all know what you got as a solution.

Hi all,
Well Jag assist came out this morning checked everything over, reset the fault warning and said he could find nothing wrong.
Just have to wait and see if it has cured it, think we all know touchy jag electrics can be!!

MANAGEMENT WARNING - NO ENGINE RESTART IN …… MILES. INCORRECT DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID QUALITY DETECTED.
I have had this problem 9 times in the last year with my 16 plate Jaguar and am still no nearer to finding a solution,
Aylesbury Jaguar have tried to fix the issue five times this year including draining, refitting, pump calibration, prime and pressure tests, resetting adaptive valves and on my last visit a whole new adblue tank and the problem has still come back after a month. Has anyone had this problem sorted?>

JAG1099,

If you look back on the post you will see an previous update to my issue. I had just extended the warranty and the remote app stuff so I called Jaguar Assist and they fixed it as described above. They did not charge me because of the cover I had. To be honest, reading the trouble others have had, I don't see how someone could simply quote ÂŁ75. Maybe if they are just trying to reset the system, which did work for me, but then I got a lot of diagnostics done by the guy who came to look at it. Did this quote from a Jaguar dealer? I would be asking for a full survey and details of what will be done/fixed for my money.

Hi I had the same Quality not quantity warning so many times times on my 16 plate 2.0 D that i got rid of the car. Jaguar kept saying it was cheap or dirty Addblue even after they had drained and refilled the tank !! Go online there are so many Jaguar owners with this problem on just about all the models they make. Mine even started going into limp home mode, they drained the tank, refilled it, drained and cleaned then refilled, blamed it on a sensor, changed the sensor but nothing worked. Same old Jaguar electrical problems that have always plagued them.

We have a fleet of heavy duty Diesel engined vehicles at work. When we swapped from ordering individual containers of DEF to a bulk system, we encountered damaged and degraded sensors that would trigger warnings and shutdowns of the engine. We believe this is traced back to the age of the DEF. https://www.mcphersonoil.com/how-to-keep-def-from-going-bad/
This website seems to corroborate many of the symptoms in this thread. The issue may not be overfill, it may be the age of the DEF being added. My Jag is petrol, so I don't have this issue...

Jaguar XE 2.0 D Auto. Had this warning for the first time in November 2020. Only JLR Adblue used. Marshalls Oxford did software update and unblocked an injector and the warning went. Warning again yesterday (21/02/21) after only 1,714 miles. Booked in again but your experience is worrying, what happened ?

Just a quick update from me, as I reported last year I had the fault cleared and it never returned. In January this year I traded in my XF which was a bit big for my needs and opted for the E Pace with petrol engine. Not too bad a car but the economy is dreadful compared to my XF....

I've had this problem for almost 2 years. My car has been to jaguar dealer 5 times and independent jaguar repairs multiple times and never been fixed. They can clear the fault but it comes back nearly every other week. The last time cost me ÂŁ730 and it came on 3 days later. Had to get rid of it.

Had this problem appear on my XE and after some research I decided to go for a adblue injector clean which seemed to work, but now 500 miles later the fault has come back again.

Strange thing is that I noticed that the build-up in the injector is black, which is weird as adblue usually forms light-coloured. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be?

NOX sensor faulty!!! This is not adblue error..

I'm having the same issue and can't figure out how to sort it. Have had it topped up, drained, refilled and reset and the warning goes away only to come back on.

The dealer has advised replacing the adaptor or chip to sort the problem, but this is an expensive solution to a very silly problem. Anyone had any other solutions which worked?

Sounds like mine, it literally gets reset and I'm sent on my way for 6000 more miles. If I can get a local garage to reset maybe it wouldn't cost me as much as the dealer charges. Should any garage be able to reset it?
Yes
