I know this has been asked before but I believe it is cause of my long standing starting\idling issue ,my car is euro 3 which should have 501z injectors fitted but previous owner has put euro 4 504z injectors into the car various members on here stated if they were swapped as a full set it wouldn't cause issue ,but on the Ford forums they say it will due to the fuel map on my ecu being different to the out put of the 504z injectors they only give out half the amount of fuel at idle and less at full power ,my idle is lumpy but I'd imagine this would be the case if ecu is expecting more fuel also my car despite running faultless through normal driving doesn't give back the expected mpg this was also stated to be a side effect of wrong injectors according to the Ford forums ,just trying to decide best way go remap or fit 501z injectors .

Try some second hand injectors that are correct first. Always fit the correct parts otherwise you’ll be going round in circles trying to get this part working with that part etc.

Previous owner fitted them ,what he done is replaced 3 bad injectors with 504z left 1 501z in when he realised he fecked up had it mapped instead of replacing injectors,I found out 6 month after owning car ,it started that hot start issue so took it local jag indie for reflash , after the reflash it ran like a bag of nails bloke at the Jag indie said it had been mapped ,anyhow took it home did leak back test injector 2 was pissing out so took it out and discovered it was odd compared to the other 3 so replaced with another 504 so there was full set but it's been as described since ,runs smooth as silk general driving its only an issue at start and idle,I read thread on here stated they were interchangeable but according to what I've read on the Ford forums on same issue they aren't said they will work in a fashion as the fuel map would be different makes sense really my ecu is expecting more fuel at idle and start so it's not going to run right mid range is more or less the same so no issue there,I've seen a set of second hand set of 501s for ÂŁ120 supposed be tested but taking a chance ,don't know whether just live with it or get it mapped with price of diesel getting it mapped probably be more cost efficient as it should be better on fuel.

You won’t see better economy if you get more power, the power has to come from somewhere.

If it was me I would return it to standard to ensure it’s running right.

£120 sounds a lot but by the time you’ve had mapping etc it will probably be more.

You could also sell the other injectors and get something back.

True the injectors I've seen still have original stickers on ,not been reconditioned so any ones guess how long they have left ,there is a German company advertising a set of reconditioned 501z for ÂŁ252 they have 100% feedback all depends on what you call reconditioned some just put new nozzles on them lol ,was going see if P F Jones would do some sort of deal on mine ,getting them coded not a problem my mate got delphi software on his laptop cost me nowt

I got a set of 4 from that German company - Diesel fix Neuss I assume you mean. They came with full calibration certs and new programming ID's so a proper job. You do have to pay them Eur 50/injector core charge but they sent that back OK once I sent them some cores - which was about ÂŁ10 in postage.
Going to put them on next week once I have gathered some 'scope data from the old ones for comparison.
