anyone had similar to this, had the car about six weeks average mpg behaved like s type only changing slowly over trip time, now and i don't remember altering any settings it behaves like instantaneous mpg on my s type ie changing with throttle application more or less instantly, although this feature is not supposed to be on these cars i beleive, and it does not appear to be malfunctioning as it does go up and down with more or less throttle application i am now officially mystified.

you have three trip options. A, B and auto. A+B you can reset whenever you want by pressing and holding trip button. auto resets itself every time you switch off the engine. you can access these on the touchscreen to choose which one is shown on your centre console. is this what you were looking for?

hope it helps

no mate
i am one of those strange people who read instructions and manuals so am aqainted with the options, my point was that the characteristic of the average mpg seems to have changed from average slow updating to near instant hope i have described it better here cheers

No - the "instantaneous" display was deleted on the XF.

Technician - the only thing I can think of is that the mpg display might alter rapidly in the short period immediately after resetting it, other than that you have a fault of some kind.

Or the driving time elapsed and an odometer which can only be read in one setting position! I'd dearly love to have a conversation with whoever at Jaguar makes the decisions on these UI things...if I was in a position of authority the converstion from my side would probably go along the lines of "you're fired!"
