XF Oil Level Check

I have an XF 3.0 litre V6 diesel. I went to check the oil level in accordance with the owner's manual, which states " switch on the ignition, ensure Park (P) is selected, press the trip button (on the end of the lighting control stalk) until the oil can icon, along with the current oil level status and topping-up advice is displayed". I followed these instructions to the letter, but when I cycled through the options on the display there is no oil level option: earlier in the owner's manual in information on changing the display, it gives instructions on how to do this and the options available, which are odometer, trip distance, average speed, average fuel consumption, range and 'blank', but no oil level option!

Could the 'blank' option be set as oil level in the system settings on the touch screen display?
I would be grateful if anybody could give me guidence on this.

Oil Level Check; Completed!

According to the handbook, when the engine is warm after a run, switch off, leave to stand for 5 mins [10-15 in my experience], press start button, without having your foot on the brake and run through the options as you describe. In addition to the ones you say, there should be the oil can and level option or a message saying, information unavailable, refer to handbook. This usually indicates that not enough time has elapsed since switching the engine off, to obtain a reading, in which case leave a while longer and try again. My car has the same 3.0 l engine as yours , only in 275 bhp form. Not sure about the touch screen setting, should not be needed for this.
Thanks for your advice Silversport: I managed to get in touch with the service department at my local Jaguar dealer (Stratstones). The technician said that as the car was a 60 plate, this was the year that new software and upgrades were introduced, so that's why it doesn't show up on the display when I follow the instructions in the handbook. To obtain the oil level option on the display, the instructions should be followed with the bonnet open; apparently, there is a sensor on the bonnet locking mechanism that brings up the oil level option in the display. Problem solved!
