I wonder if anybody can help me please, when my car is warmed up (after about ten miles or so) I can hear rapid "clicking" from the near side front wheel area? ... it,s really only noticeable whilst driving with the passenger window fully down. It only appears to be present under acceleration, and the quicker I go the faster the clicking... its almost like a noisy bearing? ... when I take my foot of the pedal it stops? ... It only does it under "acceleration load" when fully warmed up? (definitely not when cold?) I am a little concerned it may be the transfer box as I,ve heard they do go a little noisy with age, I have to say I think its probably done this for a while without me noticing, any input would be greatly appreciated thanks... :? ... forgot to say that the car drives perfectly ok and is very smooth... so I don,t think it,s a drive shaft problem! :?

...69 views and no reply.s... seems I,m on my own with this one! ... perhaps I,m not being accurate enough with the symptoms, ... what if i said it,s a "Chaffing" sound from the front NS area? ... nothing seems to overheat, nothing smells (as you would expect from a chaffing/ rubbing problem) in fact the car drive,s fine, but I feel it would foolish to ignore anything that sounds abnormal. Thanks anyway! ... 8)
It's not through want of thinking. I'm trying to work out what could make a noise when the car is accelerating but not when it maintains a constant speed.
You may be right with your original thoughts, trouble is it's going to be a heck of a thing to pinpoint. Maybe you can get your mechanic to hang out of the passenger window while you demonstrate

Whist on holiday I noticed a clicking noise from my front nearside when the window was fully down, but didn't notice whether it was there under accelleration only or at other times. To be honest, I initially thought it was a stone stuck in the tread of the tyre, but I never did find the stone.
I also wondered if it might be perhaps a bit of light wear in a CV joint, or maybe even something to do with the brake caliper (like pads wiggling ever so slightly). To be honest though, I simply shut the window, put the climate control on and forgot about it - like yours, my car drives fine.
The only symptom that seems to be appearing is a bit of a 'shimmy' through the steering wheel under braking (moderate to firm braking) - although I assumed that my new discs may be at fault and may be slightly warped, so I'll need to whip them back off and have them exchanged - whether that is related or not, I have no idea.

Only a thought but have you taken the front wheel off to have a good check about - on a car of mine a few years ago I have a strange rubbing sound front the front drivers wheel (thought it was a brake pad rubbing) but when the wheel came off it was a tiny stone lodged between the caliper and the disk !!

I have had this issue in other makes, but only under heavy acceraration. IF the CV joints start to wear they we make a clicking sound under heavy acceraration. The clicking will start to happen at lower acceration until replaced or complete failure. On a side note I did hear a clicking from my wife's Mazda CX-7 the other day. I nailed the gas and was turning right at the same time. I thought it was the AWD sorting out the power as the car is near brand new. Best bet is to have a mechanic check it out.

Cant really help (yet) but I have similar symptoms to above - clicking noise that goes off when I brake, I've just replaced front pads and discs and also have a slight wobble with light braking (goes off under heavy braking) AND driving forward with right lock the noise gets louder but under left lock it goes off! Definitely think its the beating hub as everything else is tight ( no stones in the discs). Ill update when it's done.
I think people search for a relevant thread for their problem (which is good) but then continue it without noticing the date. In this case the OP hasn't posted anywhere on the forum for over five years but considering he had a Ford Focus I'm not sure he was in the right place anyway!
I can tell you what it was.
He had steel wheels with trims on. He then used cable ties to hold on the trims and one of them was to long and hitting against the calliper every time it went round.
I know this from experience on winter tyres. It took me ages to find it............Doh!
