Oil change DIY equipment

Bear in mind that the only things that are actually changed during a service are oil and filters, everything else is simply a 'check', (something as responsible owners we do daily/weekly right?) Anything found needing attention will be charged for in addition to the service cost.

I do an oil and filter service on mine every 8 or 9 months, costs me about £50 a time. Then just take care of anything else needed as and when it crops up. I only use a garage these days for specific jobs I can't do.

Get yourself a vacuum pump and make sure you have the correct socket to undo the filter housing and you are good to go. An oil and filter change takes me about 40 minutes max these days and I hardly need to wash my hands afterwards.

This video will help:
As per this really....100%

I do mine approx every 5k thereabouts quick, easy and cheap to do, about £40 - £50

What oil are you using and where did you purchase it ? I'm struggling to find the correct oil for my 3.0L diesel. Cannot find a C 1 oil with the correct ford spec WSS-M2C934-B.

I'd prefer to be able to get it straight away from a shop if possible as I won't have time to do it in the week if I have to wait for delivery. Went to local jaguar dealer today but parts department closes at 1pm so missed it, same at ford garage too

Halfords reg checker for the oil suggests mobil 1 3000p but it's PSA spec not ford. I know the engine is ford/PSA but not sure if it's actually the right oil? Don't want to risk putting the wrong stuff in. I also want to use a good quality oil due to the jaguars tendency to eat the bottom end bearings
Hi Jambob, see here, may help a little

Actually, quite a few dealers now use the vacuum pump method to get oil out of sumps in cars they have in for service. Most of them still seem to charge for a new sump plug though!
Absolutely Chris, pretty sure Prestige do this along with other dealers / Indy's........It's what is was designed for, so why wouldn't you?

Thanks or all your thoughts, I’ll be ordering a suction pump and oil getting ready for an oil change in the future.
