With misfires, do you not normally also get a code for each of the cylinders misfiring? Ie P0301 if cylinder 1 is the culprit. In any case you know it's bank 1 so cylinders 1, 3, 5 or any combination thereof.

This link shows the cylinder layout:

I wouldn't drive the car at all whilst it's giving you that feedback - if there's a bad enough misfire it could damage your cats.

Many thanks for that yes the CHECK EMGINE MIL comes on eveynow and then when at idle, what do I need to check, swaped the coil packs over still getting misfire on the same bank fitted new plugs still getting misfire to me the STFT are showing that the fuel supply is okay could this be an ECU fault or would that throw up a different DTC what do i check next could it be a timing problem are these engines known to jump timing teeth

Many thanks
Dave

You have to deal with the misfire next
Note regarding misfire monitor DTCs: If, on the first trip, the misfire is severe enough to cause excess exhaust emission, the individual cylinder DTC plus DTC P1316 will be logged. The CHECK ENGINE MIL will not be activated. If the fault reoccurs on the second trip, the individual cylinder DTC plus DTC P1316 will be flagged, and the CHECK ENGINE MIL will be activated. If, on the first trip, the misfire is severe enough to cause catalyst damage (more severe than excess exhaust emission), the CHECK ENGINE MIL will flash while the fault is present and the individual cylinder DTC plus DTC P1313 (bank 1), DTC P1314 (bank 2) will be logged. When the fault is no longer present the MIL will be deactivated. If the fault reoccurs on the second trip, the CHECK ENGINE MIL will flash while the fault is present and the individual cylinder DTC plus DTC P1313 (bank 1), DTC P1314 (bank 2) will be flagged. When the fault is no longer present the CHECK ENGINE MIL will be activated.

Jim many thanks for the help you have given me, if you think of anything please also shout out as Ducmon will also see it and be able to say what he thinks as I think both of you are great and you are both pointing me in the right direction as I keep taking the wrong turn

Many Thanks
Dave

Dave follow ducmon now, you're in good hands.

Hi LTFT are at zero STFT bank 2 at zero bank 1 at1.2, brought new plugs that were listed as for the 2.5 S type swaped coil packs from side to side problem stayed on the same side would I not get a DTC code if something was wrong with the IMT

Cheers
Dave

What are the LTFTs at idle with a hot engine? Small STFTs can be ignored as irrelevant.

Something's very very very unhappy with those codes - wrong plugs? Bad coil(s)? Yes maybe IMTs.

P0300

possible causes.

ECM to ignition coil primary circuit fault (Cylinder misfire detected DTC also flagged)

Fuel injector circuit fault(s) (Injector DTCs also flagged)
Ignition coil failure Spark plug failure / fouled / incorrect gap
Cylinder compression low Fuel delivery pressure (low / high)
Fuel injector(s) restricted / leaking Fuel injector(s) continuously open Fuel contamination
Worn camshaft / broken valve spring(s)

How to check the coils quickly

Agree with 04str. these low STFT and LTFT with a misfiring car don't make sense. you do need to check that car is actually in closed loop.

Dave, what sort of a diagnostic reader are you using?

I think that it does not go into closed loop because at least one part of the test fails on this car.
