Good evening sir, when I bought my XJ the sunroof was suffering from the dreaded rush issues. So I sorted that out, then like you I noticed that there was some wind noise during motorway journeys.
When I looked at the sunroof from above I noticed that it wasn't flush to the bounded glass, so I adjusted it with a little bit of help from my responsible adult to make sure all four corners were flush, and like you used grease ect...now I just get the occasional groan but very little wind noise.

Mine generates some noise a high speed (my idea of high speed), if I have the blind open. The blind certainly deadens a lot of it.

 

Yep, I'd agree.

Mine's generally quiet as regards wind noise, but at much higher speeds, there's an element of that, and yes the blind quietens it down ( hoping each time the blind doesn't get stuck lol )

It certainly will.

 

Your sunroof glass is likely sitting too low. Open the sunroof, loosen the two Torx bolts on each side of the mechanism. Close the glass and lift it flush with the roof. Tighten the bolts while holding it in place. This raises the closed height and should stop the wind noise.
