Claims to be a 575 in the headline.

Its exactly the sort of thing i would fall for, cherry pick the add and see the price. Debit card ahoy!!

Good to see the selling dealer (I assume) on the forum :) . As you've seen, some of us think it may be a bit on the expensive side so wondered if you could educate us on how the price was arrived at? Perhaps there are similar 575s that have sold for around that? Would be good to understand this better so we can re-calibrate the prices of our own vehicles. Perhaps we are too negative about their worth...
I have to be careful as to what I say, I am on this forum as a Jaguar enthusiast, who happens to work at a Jaguar dealership.

As a guideline, the selling price for something like this is determined by several factors.

In this case the rarity is one important factor, the only other '575' that we can find for sale in the UK is actually not a '575', but a standard '550' XJR (this is the grey one that has no 575 badges and, more tellingly, no embroidered 575 logos on the seats)

Low mileage plays a part, less than 3,000 miles per year.

Desirable colour combination, only better option would be Velocity Blue ?

Reconditioning and warranty costs are taken into account. The car will go through our workshop prior to sale and will have to meet the Jaguar Approved criteria, any issues will have to be rectified at our expense.

The basic price that we pay for the car, as you can imagine, we need to pay a premium for desirable vehicles.

Our sales manager then uses his skill and experience to arrive at what we hope is an appropriate selling price.

As we say in the trade 'find another one ?', sounds a bit harsh but as with any car, it is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Time will tell as to whether we have got it right !

Yes, I know that it is correct - but the car is badged as an "XJR575" - what is good enough for Jaguar's PR department is surely good enough for a seller?

Many, many XJR575 ads say 575PS, yours is an outlier. Maybe that is good advertising though, as it makes it stand out!

(PS - good luck with the sale)

(PPS - no offence intended nor implied)
It's an interesting point, as all we do is input the registration number, and Auto Trader pull through their description.

In this case, they find the correct '575' designation, but show the power output in BHP, rather than 'PS'

What is more puzzling is the number of 'non 575' XJR's that I have seen on Autotrader at various times showing the correct XJR description but wrongly showing 575PS as the power output.

That is the very car that I was referring to in my recent reply, apologies that I had not seen that someone had already spotted it.

Aha. So the "twonk" in question is the Autotrader ad machine. Phew.

Can you do nothing after input of registration number to correct misinformation?

@TheVoices2 many thanks for that advice/explanation. They are rare cars (575s); I waited over a year to find one. The grey XJR on Autotrader has also 'borrowed' the "car comes with" details straight off the 575 spec sheet....

There's another one pretending to be a 575, correctly listed but somebody stuck the 575 badges on it;

Blimey. That's a con! The listing now says XJR 575 " rare limited edition"... . Interior, tread-plates, and engine cover give it up as a 'standard' XJR (and small touch screen, I think all XJ575s were MY18 with the large touchscreen). ..... (but you do get a free XJ575 boot badge with the car - which looks like it has been forcibly prised off some poor sod's 575)..
