XK8 stuck in Valet Mode

Please can you help me!

I have recently bought an XK8 (2000) which I have been in love with for over 10 years and managed to buy it.
I really love the car but yesterday she decided to go into Valet Mode.
After 24 hours, she is still in Valet mode.
My problem is that the remote has never worked and the battery is draining down in the boot.
Plus I have accidently left my mobile in the boot with some food which I can't now recover.
I have tried WD40, Wiggling the key around in the badge keyhole in the rear for long periods..
Also tried new batteries in remote key fob but sadly no sign of life.
Tried all sorts of combinations of locking and unlocking car door with both keys plus
pressing the boot release button under the drivers side various times but again nothing.
I was wondering if I could unlock the boot/Valet mode via the OBD socket or something.
I'm sure the Valet mode was triggered in the period the battery was in a low charge
Could any kind hearted soul have any answers?.
Many thanks
Bob

Welcome. If your Jag is similar to the S-type (and I am not sure it is...) there may be a Valet Mode, on-off switch in the glove compartment.

Otherwise, the best place to ask is in the model specific technical forum for your Jag, which is located here:

Sorry to hear of your woes, Bob.
Mine's an '03 X350, but I thought I'd share the instructions from the manual in case it gives any clues over and above what you've tried so far. Different car, so may be a long shot, but I remember a mild panic when I hit the valet button to see 'what does this do', and then being unable to access various bits of the car! Never hit that button since!
Good luck

Hello there Bob and welcome, great to have you join us.

Sorry that I am unable to help with your issue, but I know nothing about such things, never the less, I do hope you can get the boot open soon (y)

Hi everyone Many thanks for your kind words of help. It transpires that the root of my problem was dirt or grease in the rear badge keyhole that took several attempts to flush out. Then the mechanic with over 40 years of Jaguar experience notice that the ignition keyhole also had dirt or grease as when you remove the key there was no noise or click sound meaning that the various modules were not closing down after removing the key but still live hence the reason my battery was runnig flat after just a few days. Many thanks Bob
