Alarm going off 30 seconds after car is locked

I am having issues with the alarm going off in my Jaguar XE, when its locked the mirrors intermittently stop folding. Double electrical beep on locking, all doors are locked when checked. 30 seconds later clicking noise as if the locks are engaging then the alarm goes off. Only way to stop this has been to leave it open. I have checked codes its showing the parking assist module as a fault. Could this be responsible for setting off the alarm? Have recently replaced battery as thought this could be the cause.

I have checked the boot loom as the suspected culprit but appears to all be in tact around the flexed section as shown in a video on this forum.

I think it is the perimeter alarm setting it off as I have disabled the interior alarm and it still goes off?

Any ideas for potential solution to the issue apart from leaving the car unlocked every night?

Welcome to the forum, enjoy.:) Double beeping on locking and clicking of the locks normally indicates a problem with one of the locks, whether that be the boot, bonnet or doors. I would be surprised if the park assist module was the problem. You could disconnect the module and then try locking to rule it out.
A Jaguar specific code reader would probably help point you in the right direction.

Welcome aboard Kb99, sorry to hear of your issues

That sounds like a right pain!

Code readers probably going to be the best way to track that down

Also worth checking the in car vehicle security settings to see what is triggering the alarm.

Hi Jimbo,

It says its passenger door activated alarm, but the door seems to be locking ok, do you think it could be the sensor saying whether the door is locked or not?

I've plugged into reader and no codes relating to the central locking/alarm only the following:

U201B-56 Control module calibration (PSCM)
U0001-86 Can BUS
U0001-87 Can BUS

I have the iCarsoft V3 JL but it doesnt seem to allow the actuation testing of lock mechanisms.

There will be a microswitch in that lock that is causing your problem, the only real way to remedy is to change it for a new one. These modern lock mechanisms do seem to be rather flimsy.

You might be able to lock it without the alarm. I remember there was a way on my car when I had a similar issue to you.
I think I opened the back door, then locked all doors using the switch on the drivers door. Then it was possible to get out of the back and close that door, so the alarm wasn't set.
Possible that things have moved on and this isn't doable any more.

I also found that when my alarm went off the interior lights came on, as if someone opened the door, proving it was the microswitch in the door that detected the opening of a door.

The door latch contains switches that tell the car if the door is open, ajar or closed. These switches fail very regularly on all JLR vehicles.

Solution is a replacement latch.

On the XE, there is no way to mechanically force it to lock, so not a huge amount you can do.

The double beep when locking is to tell you the car failed to lock properly, BTW.
