No-one interesting, just a busybody nosy parker hanger-on that hasn't been updated on the big blue topless machine for (what seems like) months!

Unfortunately, Mac, there were no historical accounts for the previous 9 days, and not too much going on with The BBTM. However, that all changes tonight.

Firstly, this weekend, The BBTM was brought back from AWJ Automotive, after another swapping of offsprings' inheritances for important Jaguar amelioration. This time around, AWJ were used to use their official Jaguar abilities to switch on the 'AUX' function on the BBTM's audio system so we could make use of the Jaguar's new phone, (for bluetooth playback, streaming and DAB). In addition, AWJ also procured and installed an Adamesh Bluetooth adapter for me - that's not the sort of cold weather job that I would want to take on. It's not the sort of warm weather job I want to take on either, but that's a different matter. Or the same matter with different weather...

Finally, AWJ also fitted a new battery, also at my request. They thought the new battery was OK, but it's started not holding charge past a couple of weeks when it's not CTEK'd up, so I'm happy for it to go. This is another job that I would rather not do, mostly because the battery weighs around 24kg and it's an absolute swine to remove/fit on the convertible, (basically you're folded over, stretching into the boot and holding a 24kg battery at arm's length 🥴).

The £517 bill included £140 for the Bluetooth adapter, (which is Adamesh's website price 👍), and £186 for an Exide Premium battery, oh, and £86 for HM Govt... So, not too bad a bill this time around. I'm sure that the MoT and Service later in the year will redress that imbalance back in AWJ's favour 😂.

Mrs V and I are looking forward to giving our new audio system a good try out during the forthcoming Scurry.

Some nice bits n bobs done, showing the love!

Not the worst bill either, all good.

On This Day In My Jaguar Ownership History… in 2019

I finally finished off what was, by my mediocre standards, a big job on the XK. It was the Easter bank holiday weekend and I had spent all of this sun-filled family time pampering the Jag. It was wheels off to be fully cleaned inside & out, brake calipers to be wire-brushed to obliteration before painting with some of e-bay's finest cheap gold caliper paint and finished with blue lettering and a cover of clear acrylic to make sure they wouldn't peel off, and the engine cover to be coated in engine primer and finished in a tasteful two-colour finish of silver and Jaguar Indigo Blue with an excessive number of coats of clear varnish.

It was the first day of Jaguars At The Costwolds, Jaguars at the Cotswolds | Welcome, @MarkFY's second, brilliant, Jaguar Forum weekend 👍😊.

I think I'm just about ready for another one... Anyone know when it is? 🤔😉

Wheels n calipers, there's more than a few hours of your life you won't get back, but they look great, well worth the effort on the first actual irl compliment you will no doubt get.

Who doesn't love a nice detailed engine bay?
Looks great!

I did notice the wheels though, the centre caps Rob, Growlers chin pointing towards valve stem ;)

You still have the lockers I see, original wheel nuts or not?

I'm assuming (hate to assume - I'm sure you know the saying ) you're well aware...

The Easter bank holiday weekend has traditionally been pamper-time for the XK, but this year's weekend was a significant wash-out. Fear not, people who are concerned for The BBTM's welfare, emergency contingencies have been put in place. The pamper-fest is scheduled for the first May bank holiday weekend, as long as global warming does what is needed, and a quick car wash with heavy-duty roof scrub was done today ready for The Scurry 😊👍.

Oh Jim, thank you for noticing the Growler - valve stem orientation. These things are important, aren't they? I wasn't sure whether it should be chin-to or chin-away, though... What's your preference?

And yes, my nuts are still the originals 🤔. In fact, today I noticed that the caps on the security nuts have wintered badly, so that's somat else for the May bank holiday...

Hi Rob

Most have the Growler chin pointing to the valve stem, ask any other Jag nut and they'll likely tell you the same lol

Mine are in that orientation on both cars.

Don't want to teach my granny how to suck eggs and all that, but if they're originals, you should consider changing them. They're a 2 piece version and prone to failing causing issues to remove, possible damage to the wheels etc.
There's a solid one piece version available and that for a set of 20 to bin the locking wheel nuts too, only around £35. There's dozens, if not hundreds of threads / comments about this
Here's one of the many threads about this (y)

Thank you, Jim, that info about the older security nuts is triggering a few memory synapses. It's now on the never-ending list 👍😊.

When is it, you ask? It's too soon, that's when it is. I've already started planning next years!!

Looking exceptionally nice in the sun there, Rob. 🆒

It may be apocryphal, but I was told that the habit arose in the era of BBS wheels with a hidden valve. The valve stem was a separate item that screwed into a location hidden behind a false bolt head on the rim of the wheel - having the growler chin pointing toward the false bolt head saved a lot of scrabbling around in the dark, if it was needed.

I love it when the sun catches it like that, Jim. The car is usually parked in that orientation, so after car washing day, if the afternoon sun is out, it's always the driver's side
that catches the light most spectacularly. It's another thing that I absolutely love about this car and never tire of this post-washed highlight.

Many's the time I've posted such a photo...

Sorry, even though that is a blunt fact that many can testify to, it was actually an incomplete sentence. Let's have another go...

Many's the time I've posted such a photo aaaannndd comments have come back suggesting that the car is Kynance Blue or similar, rather than the much darker Indigo Blue that it actually is.

Beautiful, shining like a new shilling as they say, cracking reflections, shiny exhaust trims, tyres blackened AND Growlers chin pointing towards valve cap.
You do not hang about!

Nice little hint of yellow caliper there too.

Of course you're at an advantage as you actually have sun to show her off lol
