Hi Guys
looking for a bit of help.My problem is I pull up and stop the car when I try to start it again sounds like battery is flat
I put on a new battery in Oct last yr. This only happens couple of times a week all the rest of the time battery whips engine over perfect
could this be a starter motor problem or has any one got any ideas dont want it to go all together while im out Any help much appreciated
Many thanks Ray

I would start by checking the battery terminal connections and the battery earth cable where it connects to the car.
Failing that I would get the codes read to see if there is any error codes that may relate to your problem.

Check/clean the connections at the starter motor also.

I had similar issue last year..

My TDVi would fire up on the button for weeks.. then dead or slow turning of engine as if poor battery..
leave ten minutes then she would fire up as if nothing had happened and restart for days.. eventually happened almost daily..

I feared faulty immobiliser of starter..

I put the car on Jacks and while under the car and had someone star-up as I put multi-meter over the starter terminals.. it read 5volts on turnover (??).
so I had the garage change out with a new starter.. but before doing so he checked the earth cables etc. just to ensure proper grounding/circuit..

Changed out the starter (ÂŁ100 labour).......... SAME ISSUE after two days.. !! The car would not even turn over.. as if battery dead... leave ten minutes and she would fire up..

I went back to the garage and he rechecked the cabling from boot to Starter ... He found the "Live" / "Positive" cabling to be poorly connected at one of the joints under the car.. so he strip stripped/sanded/fitted new bolt onto the joint/bracket..

The has been faultless ever since.. so check Positive and negatives wires from the boot/battery to the Starter..

If starter is at fault. I have a good used one going spare.. (just cover delivery..) :)

+1

We've had several members recently either with similar issues or those who have done, as above re the earthing points

Worth getting them checked, cleaned and or even redone as some have, see here

Mine just died last week...recharge overnight dead after 24hrs....I have bought a new 95A Duracell at ÂŁ175 with 5yr guarantee. When changing I noticed the earth lead fron negative to body - where it connects just above battery - had most of the stripped cable outside the crimp fastening so this has been out and in the vice. No issues since...not even the warning light gremlins
