There is another one in Larkhall about 1/2 a mile from my house, like Steve, I don’t think there in the forum.
As Bronco says though as a rule of thumb you really don’t see many out in the wild.

Then you look at how much Mac Doc’s spreadsheet is growing and you wonder why you don’t see any?

30 million cars on the road Glenn, you do the math.:devilish::giggle::ROFLMAO:
I can hardly count my fingers let alone do math!?!?

Try saying that about a Merc or an Audi, you can't go 100 yards without seeing one. I reckon out of all the Jaguar models there are lucky to be 3 in my estate (including my own) but can't go 2 or 3 houses without seeing a Merc or Audi.
PCP has a lot to answer for.

Next, you'll be wearing anoraks and standing by the motorways with a notebook, to become "the lesser spotted Jaguar spotters".:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Funny you should say that, there was this one time…

The only issue with that is when you park next to someone and they don’t know what their driving. & they think you’ve lost a few screws.

You know, the non-forum types that only have them as a company car or are just not car people.

Lol spoke to someone exactly like that in Tesco car park, some months ago.

He was like, yeah, whatever, just a car to get me from A to B.

It did look like that thought to be fair, and hadn't been washed since visiting Z by the looks of it lol

Jim
A lot of them about.
The folk across the street only ever take there car to the ÂŁ5 car wash and it was a laugh watching the son put his private plate onto his brand new BMW.
Didn't do too good a job, I see the rear plate has fell off.

That’s not parked, that’s abandoned.

I always kind of wonder how many have actually been built and in the UK since 2009/10 when they were initially released?
I suppose that could play a factor on spotting ability?

Numbers here allegedly, from an Auto express article

The last example of current XJ - known as the X351 - will roll off the production line on 5 July 2019, having first been launched a decade ago, with 122,330 examples having been built since then. A Jaguar spokesman said the company could "confirm that production of the current Jaguar XJ will come to an end, as planned, this summer - ten years after it launched."

Jim
If you split that figure for the world wide distribution that would certainly pull that number down and then take into account write offs etc, I would imagine you could half that number easily.

Spread that evenly up and down the country it does seem to become an even more exclusive car.

I suppose you could go on the "how many left" website and add each individual model number up but that's probably boarder line lunacy!

For example I looked at my particular model and there are 62 licensed and 7 SORN.
I tried howmanyleft but must be doing something wrong as it didn't list Autobiographies, struggled to find X351's for that matter.
I'll give it another try, I'm obviously being stupid.

Edit: did the search differently and found it. 447 licences and 8 sorned

If you do ALL XJ’s it shows 30k taxed and 18k sorned.
So even taking the model differences into account that’s not a big number.
If you were to split that between x300,x308,x350 and the earlier models that doesn’t leave much of a percentage for the X351.

I don't trust that site: the numbers seem ridiculously low, and are based on free-text rather than fixed model descriptions. Couple that with the fact that the DVLA often doesn't always have the same info on all cars (it thought my XK8 was an XKR, for instance) and I think it is a valiant concept that is doomed.
Agreed, but it does give some food for thought on a base point. Even adding 5% +/- to take things like that into account it still doesn't seem that many XJ's.

My gut feel is that they are out by thousands of percent.
On looking a bit deeper, you could probably be right. Looking over all the listed Autobiography's it suggests there are only 476 registered and 12 sorne.

I agree on the stats Phil, but as you say, as to why they "seem" so few n far between, I have no clue.

I did see one today, but it was actually Glenns car as I was in to collect mine, so doesn't count lol

Jim
Funny I saw one too, came up rather ominously behind me on the M8.. oh wait that was Jim lol

Meant to say, heading back from Taggarts in Hillington last night, just as I was splitting off to the M74, there was an X351 heading to the Kingston Bridge on the M8, must have been just before 6pm. I’m sure the last 3 letters were JJJ

Spotted a silver XJ while in Prestwick but for the life of me can’t remember the reg. so guess it’s a never happened moment.

I’m with you on the spoiler, I just wonder how long it will survive being just stuck on like a Halfords special.

I remember when I had a Capri, some toe-rag had ran over the bonnet, across the roof and down the boot. I managed to change the bonnet for the longer power bulge one, and the boot lid for an RS 3.1 boot lid, but the roof wouldn’t smooth out as I was on a “budget” and couldn’t afford to put it in a body shop to straighten it, so vinyl roof it was. I also put in one of those glass flippy up sunroofs. (I also converted it from auto to manual along with 1001 other mods…)

Either way they shouldn’t have used my Capri as a stunt double… 🤣🤣

Drove all the way from Larkhall to Scarborough via York and back and only seen 1 XJ -Y90 DOM I think. A red swb. I was driving so no pics.
