Black Pack fitted

When I selected the options on my XE, the one that I wanted was black pack but knew I could fit it later as it would have put the car's list price to over £40k and meant paying a hell of a lot more tax to pay per year. The option was £530, I managed to get all the parts for £220, the grille was brand new and a bargain.

I used an excellent write up PDF from another forum to help with removing the front bumper, some things that it doesn't mention though is to unclip the headlight washers, which is a small clip and slide out the pipe on the driver's side. Then on the passenger side to unplug the front parking sensors and the pedestrian impact bumper sensor which are clipped on the inner bracket bumper support, this will then make the removal of the bumper much easier. Then it's a matter of undoing quite a lot of small torx screws all around the grille and lower side grilles and swap over the matt chrome for gloss black.

The side grilles just unclip out all round it and are held on the edge nearest the door with 3M tape, just swap over.

Front bumper removed.

All complete!

I think it looks so much more sporty now and works well with the already fitted S rear valance and gloss black window trim.

Theres 4 pictures that I posted, odd that you can't see them?

My god, a mod complete with how to from Lord Delete himself.

Is this the 1st for an XE on this forum?

Sharp thinking Ian and great patience shown by you to wait, we both know there are many on here that couldn't have achieved the same, me being one of them.

Much as I like my brightwork, I've got to admit the front does look better without it.

Nice one Ian and thanks for sharing it with us,

Rich

I can see all the pictures - so they are definitely there!

Nice work Ian, I confess I am a Chrome fan myself, but can appreciate the little bit extra it adds to the car having this removed, for those who don't.

The puzzling part to me, is why this costs extra when the car is new???... a black part will cost less to make that one that has been chrome plated surely?

Great job Ian, just wondering if you plan to blackout the wheels to finish or leave them as they are.

Cheers Jim, I eventually want 19" black venoms but they are quite pricey even 2nd hand. Would finish the exterior off nicely then I think.

Picture to show the wheel I'm on about

I'll have to pop round sometime then and see all those TV's!

One step at a time Rich, will take a look at the wheel wobble first then see just how dirty a car it is.

Looking good Ian, I remember you talking about this a while ago as something you wanted to do.

Good call, definitely looks sportier.

Now go drive it and put some miles on the clock and enjoy it ;-)

Cheers mate

Personal preference, but I think the matt chrome grille surround just lifts the look a little - adds some class :)

Nah! say no to chrome, cars move over quicker when they see an all Black Pack bearing down on them, hunting by stealth

I don't think the star alloys look good in gloss black. They look good as they are, I'd happily swap for 18" black matrix alloys though or if I can find a real cheap set of black venoms instead.

A pair of 3D number plates to finish it off lol!
