XJ X351 Spotting.

Mac_Doc came up with this idea first, after his recent 800 mile drive. The X351 is not a common car, so you don't see many about. I recently did a 250 mile round trip via the M25 and M3, and only saw one on the way out and one on the way back. It might be worth posting when you see one, as it might be someone on this forum.

(PS. Downing Street/Westminster doesn't count!)

There is another one in Larkhall about 1/2 a mile from my house, like Steve, I don’t think there in the forum.
As Bronco says though as a rule of thumb you really don’t see many out in the wild.

Then you look at how much Mac Doc’s spreadsheet is growing and you wonder why you don’t see any?

I can hardly count my fingers let alone do math!?!?

Try saying that about a Merc or an Audi, you can't go 100 yards without seeing one. I reckon out of all the Jaguar models there are lucky to be 3 in my estate (including my own) but can't go 2 or 3 houses without seeing a Merc or Audi.
PCP has a lot to answer for.

Next, you’ll be wearing anoraks and standing by the motorways with a notebook, to become “the lesser spotted Jaguar spotters”.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Funny you should say that, there was this one time…

There is a white one about two miles away from me, and a black XJ50 that i occasionally see at Waitrose. There are about three that park in my works car park (or there were, back when I went to the office and parked in the car park). Pictures to follow.

On the rarity front, the last time I went to Gaydon for the breakfast club (on X-Type day) I think mine was the only X351 on site.

That was me Bob, but you were on the right track.

On that particular day, in all those miles I saw 2. I'm up for a game of 351 spotting and will add as and when

I've seen one in my village. Being worked on / over by the garage, which I prefer to avoid. Prem Lux judging by the alloys. Mme. Moutarde sees a blue one at St Ives regularly. When I inspected and bought ours, going back home in the Skoda on the M6, there was one in front of me going at a sedate gentlemanly pace. And thereafter a XF Sportbrake. I took this as a sign that I'm actually living in a hologram, and none of this is real, including you lot.

I shall impose my own reality... Rare at Gaydon? Hmmm. My triumphal arrival will be in the Spring. :D

All I could find on Google is that the total production figure is 122,330 units.
Most of these are probably in the US.
Yep, that's probably a given, they love their big luxury saloons over there, although can't imagine there being many / any diesels

Correct - just looked and there are 544 XJ's for sale on autotrader.com and not one of them is a diesel

There was a beautiful autobiography parked near my "normal" parking space in Asda - a mile away from the entrance and trolley parks.

Was going to park right next to it and take a pic but then thought that would be quite annoying for both of us!

No, that is not only allowed, but a must

As long as the regulation distance is observed

The only issue with that is when you park next to someone and they don’t know what their driving. & they think you’ve lost a few screws.

You know, the non-forum types that only have them as a company car or are just not car people.

Lol spoke to someone exactly like that in Tesco car park, some months ago.

He was like, yeah, whatever, just a car to get me from A to B.

It did look like that thought to be fair, and hadn't been washed since visiting Z by the looks of it lol

Jeeesh, his parking skills leave a lot to be desired!

That’s not parked, that’s abandoned.

And would worry me that someone would see it as possibly trying to take two spaces to avoid door dings - and park even closer on RHS.....

I've spotted only one or two xjs in Swansea and Bristol. When you wave thinking "they must have spotted the grille, they'll be looking and smiling"..... then just drive with their blinkers on!

Even my 8yr old daughter picks up on it, she loves spotting a jaguar badge and comments.

On M4 the other day think there was about 6 of us in space of about 100m although all others were XF she clocked them and laughed at how many we had seen

A Frost Blue portfolio came down my road yesterday which is unusual as it's not a main route.
He slowed down when he reached my car but by the time I was outside he was down the road.
The last letters of the registration were CAT.

Being new to all this, I don't mind admitting I'm still confused. But the er, type, that knows every sub-variant of the machinery of their interest are best avoided, if the (Supermarine) Spitfire and F-16 Block Number 'experts' I've met are anything to go by.

X Pace? Hmm. When they resurrect the XJ electric limo? There must be an especially nerdy Jag Concept / What If clique out there?

William Lyons and Edward Turner signed an agreement during WW2 to produce a Jaguar motorcycle after the war ended. Due to the government wanting no new bikes produced during the war Turner went to BSA instead............ (the V8 Daimler engine was based on the Triumph Speed Twin)

There's an XJ lurking in the Colchester area. Wave if you see it, that'll be Mme. Moutarde. I'm left at home with the dogs and Skoda.

XJ60 DAD - Anyone on here?

To get back on thread, I've just got back from a 470-mile round trip to the Manchester area, plus another 50 miles around the streets in my daughter's car, and saw one other XJ X351 - a black 2014 XJ on the M11 just south of Stansted Airport.
